Biden wants a justice department investigation, of Guckert Gannon
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 03:09 PM by caligirl
or a congressional inquiry per his office staff at 11:45 am today. I called and this is what his staffer told me. and I quote" He just doesn't want the White House investigating itself.

So to restate, he wants a justice department investigation or a congressional inquiry/ hearings. His staffer made it clear to me that his not signing the letter did not mean he wasn't interested in getting real answers. He does not want this investigation in the hands of the White House itself.

Also his Delaware office closed for weather, his DC office is the one I talked to.

1. You should clarify that...
...you are talking about an investigation into the Jeff Gannon affair.

3. OK, that's better.
The news on another post that he wasn't going to sign the letter had me doing some serious head scratching. And I'm sure if the letter ends up being the best tool in our arsenal, he'll add his support.

4. I'm not real impressed. No chairman is going to start an investigation
the Justice dept sure as hell isn't going to, and neither is Homeland Security.

To me, it seems the opportunity lies in prodding the GAO to do some digging, to build the case to force a committee hearing on the subject.

6. this is so bogus!!

I'll tell you what happened, imo. His office is being flooded with complaints from activist dems, and he is back tracking. He says that Congress won't investigate, and he refuses to sign the GOA letter circulated by the dem whip, my senator (yeah!), with his office saying -- he didn't have enough time to consider it. Why didn't his office give this gobbledegook before? Huh? I just sent my email, so I couldn't have been a part of the pile on -- I have lost a great deal of respect for him over this. Finally, isn't the GOA a fairly independent agency, one Congress calls on all the time for investigations? Better late than never -- but get a clue, Mr. Biden. Justice department? Who does he think controls that?

15. GAO head got fired by the Chimp over the last big "flap," I believe.
GAO investigation is no better than what we got with Fitzgerald/Plame.

It can "recommend" but not do anything. And with Bushies buddies owning the whole government & Judiciary....there's no one who can stop him.

Sad...but still Biden should sign the letter. Letters are all we are left with, unfortunately, until someone starts doing "civil suits" like Paula Jones did.

9. Good move. Trust the torture Czar over the GAO.
Isn't the GAO the office that exposed Nixon?

Fuck you again, Biden.

13. Judgment Against Gannon
Doesn't Gannon owe Delaware money for not paying his taxes? Can Biden do anything to get Delaware to prosecute Gannon and find out who actually pays him? I know it's State vs Federal, but he (Biden) has got to have some local pull.

Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 04:05 PM by grumpy old fart
of this administration have apparently all fallen on deaf ears. Election abuses, Halliburton Billion dollar thefts, Gannon/Guckert, Abu Gahreb, Payola/Propaganda, the list goes on and on. We hear cries for investigations by the FBI, GAO, Justice...and nothing but silence follows.

16. Exactly....Civil Suits are what we need to do.....Paula Jones case made
it possible for an individual citizen to sue a sitting President. That's the only way to go. Who did Jeff Gannon harm... Class Action by the DNC? Daschle? Is there some other angle that could be found? RICO Conspiracy by the Repug Party to interfere with the Election Process?

17. LAWSUIT: http://www.dougwallace.com/
After the fiasco of November 2nd, we have discovered that we cannot rely on politicians or even politically controlled offices of Secretaries of States who control voting. If we are going to have an America of "We the People", we are going to have to take back the Government from the politicians and place them under our control.

As an outgrowth of this lawsuit, ( and I admit we are plowing new ground) we need to use every legal strategy available to obtain control of our government which we the people are supposed to own. A definition of a fascist regime is one in which control has been obtained by extreme right-wing elements. And that is where we are today. We need to end that with an:

AMERICAN REVOLUTION 'O5

I will make suggestions for that in the near future. What we need to do now is not allow Bush and Cheney the "mantle" of office for the new term. That "mantle" of appearing bigger and more powerful than life itself will not descend upon them if we stand together in this struggle.

And you know what? WE HAVE THE POWER TO DO IT!

"All truth passes through three stages: First it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." - Schopenhauer

Please support me in this effort. A link below opens a letter which you can print out and sign and send to the court to demonstrate support.. I would like to see it received by the court in the hundreds of thousands However, be certain to mark the outside of the envelope, "Wallace v Bush, et al ". This will allow the court to count and store without opening.

They can't just "investigate" it?
