Bush on CNN - what's with the soldiers "WHOOOOOAAA"?
I support our troops, but they sound like a bunch of sychophantic dumbasses. Sorry, I know the news they can get is limited, but is there a man among them who could call out, "Hey, where are the WMDs?" or "Hey, where is bin Laden?"

It is enough to make me take my Support the Troops sticker off my car.

1. You should take that sticker off your car
I heard if water gets under it, rusting may occur.

13. I try to take mine off when I'm at home
but sometimes I forget. I put all my bumper stickers on magnets so I can rotate them and I also take them off in areas where they might get my car keyed.
I have a "bring our troops home now" ribbon, I won't put a Support the troops one on because there is a large portion of the troops I don't support. Those that take part in torture, gunning down innocent people for shits and giggles and rapists, I also don't support those that look the other way when this stuff happens - they are just as guilty as those that do the deed. It isn't just a few bad apples either, that is just White House white wash at work.

2. You need a "Support the Troops: Impeach Dumbass" sticker
or a "Support Our Troops: Shitcan Rumsfeld" magnet.

17. I saw a good bumpersticker on CafePress
It read: "If you support the troops, you wouldn't have voted for Bush."

I was quite annoyed
by their juvenile hollering as well. And where's the Guckert story? Let's just put a propaganda speech on instead.

I assume there's a list of insulting names I can't call you while on DU. Pardon me whilst I review said list.

15. My son voted for Kerry
and he's a Marine now in Iraq. He's doing the job he signed up to do. Many do not support Bush or his administration's policies.

24. Not To Cause Any Bad Feelings
But my question to you is what exactly is his job, and when you say "job" are you referring to his military occupational skill, or MOS.

As a former soldier it was my duty to defend the US Constitution form all enemies, and an attack on the US, to me was considered an attack on the Constitution.

But to point out just one fact, the Iraqis did not attack us, we launched an attack on them based on lies. And yet it seems that the military continues to believe the hype, not all of the military, but at least those that the "media" show on TV.

By attacking Iraq, our military attacked a country that was not a threat, and by backing up an administration that has imperial designs, most of the US military is being transformed into a 21st Century version of the Roman Legions, or Napoleons Grande Armee'.
Where following the orders of the emperor is all that matters, with
little or no regard shown to those on the receiving end of a rifle with a bayonet, or an artillery shell falling on a residential neighborhood.

I am not a pacifist and I will be one of the first to stand and fight for my country, I will fight against the religious fanatics that want to create a theocracy, I will fight against those that would try to create a one party system of government, and I will fight ot defend the Constitution of the United States.

WOuld your son do the same?

29. Of course
my son would stand with you to defend the Constitution of our country. I'm sure you, and I, would feel better if his MOS was to guard our borders or protect the airports. Or teach recruits at Parris Island. But it's not. He's in a combat team in Iraq. He's a liberal who says his mission is to protect his fellow Marines. He didn't make the decision to invade a sovereign nation, the Bush administration did. The military does what they're told. I'm sure you understand that, having served yourself.
The soldiers don't get to decide which cause..."fighting religious fanatics that want to create a theocracy" or "those that would try to create a one party system of government"...to which they're employed. That's why we're important. It's our job to make sure they're deployed judiciously. As a country, we failed.
Don't blame the troops. Blame the leaders and the voters.

4. It is called brainwashing.
The US Military is very good at it. Basic training is a place where they destroy whatever you were originally, and remake you in the image of the perfect soldier.

8. Get a different sticker "Bring our troops home" instead
I'm sure the troops were briefed, especially after Rummy got hit with that loaded question. It comes down to 'do or die' (or speak out and die) They don't call it friendly fire for nothing.

11. Before he gets there they are instructed to applaud
I saw a news report on CBC Newsworld a couple of months ago and the reporter said he watched while an officer warned the soldiers ahead of time to make noise and applaud when Bush spoke....Did you notice, however that when the camera panned over the crowd, there were a lot of glum faces?....

16. I noticed the robots behind Bush
were all beaming, but many of the regular guys and women were not smiling and while CNN did not show their hands, their bodies were not moving as though they were applauding. But then I figured that was too much to hope for - that our military realizes it was used by an immoral administration.

12. Cut 'em some slack . . .
As much as we hate it, he is the putative Commander-in-Chief, and the military ethos is to support the CIC enthusiastically. When you think about it, anything else would be suicidal (ya gotta have confidence in your mission or you're gonna get killed).

We'll educate 'em when they get home and see how he's f*cked their families and the home they risked their lives to defend.

We'd better.

They will have to pay for the consequence of their actions

22. With all the new bases going up in the Caspian/PersianGulf they
will only be going home for two weeks at a time, for the next twenty years...Just ask John McCain (quoted by Bob Herbert "The Republican's bizarre parallel universe" from a CNN interview).

Someone's got to man those bases and the taxpayers have to pay for them. Ever see that spelled out in the budget anywheres ? The DoD also can't account for $2.3 trillion (CBS News's "War on waste" article) according to Rummy. Now we know where Operation MoneyPit is ! Iraq and future deployments preplanned.

It would be nice to know if these bases were planned for before 9-11, huh ?

25. Huah has a lot of different meanings, not all of them flattering.
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 12:45 PM by glitch
One of them I believe is similar to 'You are full of crap', the troops may be using that. They probably, rightfully figure * doesn't know this.

I didn't see it, what did their expressions show? You can tell which definition of huah is being meant by expression and stance.

Or maybe the old-timer who taught them huah is having a little private joke.

28. HOOAH is the standard reply
for many things...how's it going? hooah

we're the best! (chants of hooah)

it's like check, roger, the greeting of the day...yes, they have a "greeting of the day"....

it's pretty meaningless overall...

ect.

Take your sticker off...I'm a soldier's wife and don't have a sticker. I don't support the invasion/occupation of either Afghanistan or Iraq.

many times, even the soldiers are hand-picked for these events.

So Shrub would not have gone into a group of soldiers who weren't on orders to chant hooah and clap....

Not all soldiers support the Bush cabal...but far too many do.

all veterans. And I do not fault a soldier for going where he was sent. But I'm glad HOOOAH does not always mean "I love you and support your invasion of a sovereign nation who did not invade us."

Thank you.
