What is it with the White House Chef story????
On the way back from a dinner out, the local DC all news station, WTOP, ran a radio story about the departure of the White House Chef. Now, that story is weeks old. Why is it still out there? Did I miss a controversy? We all know Chef Scheib is capable and talented. We all know he was pissed about having to make corporate menu items using ingredients such as Coke in whatevertherfuck it was the classless assholes in charge wanted him to make.

Yadda yadda yadda ........

He left weeks ago. George is eatin' his peanut butter and jelly sammiches. And his Taco Bell frozen dinners. Chef Scheib is on to better environs where his talent will be appreciated.

So tonights little blurb tells us all that again, and adds that Lady Laura-The-Boyfriend-Killer-cum-Nicotine-Junkie sez her hubby is a "good eater" and just wants food he likes - like Tex Mex and spicy.

"Good eater"??? Isn't that what we say to little kids when they eat their peas and carrots?

What is it with this story?

Why is this still in the news?

3. Maybe Scheib had "other sins" ?? & some reporters are keeping up the heat
scheib told the new york times that his sin was failing to "satisfy the first lady's stylistic requirements." laura bush's press secretary, gordon johndroe, said friday that "the beginning of a second term is a good time for change."

4. Let him have a Tex-Mex chef...
"Extra cheese on that, please, especially Unca Dick's enchiladas." We can sit back and watch shrub bloom this Spring into a whole new set of clothes.

I take exception to the comment that "good eaters" are expected to chow down on spicy foods all of the time.

5. Maybe 'cause they are still looking for a "chef".
I found a little more on Yahoo:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&ncid=703&e=6&u=/ap/20050220/ap_on_go_pr_wh/laura_bush_chef

<snip>
The chef will have ample opportunity to make dinner for the first family — the Bushes are known for staying in most nights rather than socializing like their predecessors. Laura Bush said they do go out to friends' dinner parties when someone thinks to ask them.

"We don't actually get invited to that many dinner parties," she said. "I think people think we're going to invite them, which we do."
