Is Bill Maher stupid or a panderer?
This week Maher kept saying we should give Idiot Son credit for liberating Iraq.

Idiot Son said he was going to invade Iraq because of WMD. Then after HIS LIES ABOUT WMD WERE EXPOSED Idiot Son said his real motive was he wanted to "liberate" Iraq.

Maher has talked about Idiot Son's Iraq lies many times in the past.

In reality Idiot Son deserves no credit for a vision he never had. "Liberation" of Iraq is the last thing Idiot Son ever thought about in his life.

What's up with Maher being all over the place? Pandering? Confused? Stupid?

1. My theory...
He doesn't want to be disappeared. He gets his digs in, and you can tell that when he says anything good about * he's about to hurl.

21. I'd agree with the above 2 comments. However, he does this at the expense
truth. I was very po'd about that too...

My guess is that he was so wanting to talk about Gannon male prostitute that in his mind he had to forfiet one of the biggest LIES of the Bu$hco crime family.

3. Hard to say without hearing...
... how he said it. Maher seems to sometimes say things for shock value, and sometimes as if he's trying to cut through to the essence of things (something he does not always do that well).

Let's face it--he's not a deep thinker--he's a showman.

Cheers.

5. He is an entertainer and celebrity, I believe,
and makes his living from such.

We can hardly expect him to commit career suicide, can we?

Oh, and he wants you to "watch", I suspect.

6. comprehension disorder
Bill Maher never said that. He said he gives Bush credit for sticking to the election schedule and for successful elections. He never said a word about liberating Iraq. :eyes: Maybe it's the week-end or something, but there's alot of misinterpretation going on lately.

means. Most especially when it comes to violence.

20. it's champs de mars by marc chagall.
He painted it while living in Paris after fleeing Russia. He's my favorite painter and I rotate which of his works is on my sig pic. Come to think of it, I haven't changed since before the election.

10. that's not what he said
he said we should give Bush credit for the elections, not "liberating Iraq." His point was that we should judge policies on the political circumstances, not simply because we hate Bush. Maher has spoken out against the war for ages. He said the elections were a good thing, that it shows the desire for democracy is so strong, that even Bush couldn't fuck it up despite completely screwing up the entire occupation of Iraq.

13. He's pandering.....Trying to muster up a left/right mix in his audience.
He said he didn't want his right leaning guests to feel persecuted.

(Said it last week...I forgot where)

15. Recall ABC sacked him..
Even HBO is owned by Time Warner..I think he a genuine Bush hater...But to keep his show he has to maintain boundaries of so called 'fairness' or he gets sacked...When on tour, I don't think any kind of pandering is his trademark.

18. Maher is politically uninformed. Without judging his
potentials as an entertainer, he knows practically nothing about politics, has no consistent opinion about any of it and is no way an asset to our position.

27. He is a comedian
He is not a political expert.

As someone with a comedy show, he has the desire to appeal to everyone to increase ratings.

He is also not a liberal democrat. He has a strong libertarian bent. He has also said all along that he considered Iraq a 60:40 proposition and not all wrong.

With this in mind, it is not unexpected that he would have things to say which differ from prevailing opinion on DU. I certainly don't expect to only be saying things I agree with.

I think it is best to enjoy Mahar when he does a good job of saying things you agree with and lampooning the right, without being too surprised or upset when he also says things you disagree with.
