Franken and the nit wit right
I was catching up today, listening to the archive of Franken's Friday show at Air America Place http://www.airamericaplace.com/archive.php?mode=show&id=5 . Right before the show's last hour, Al interviewed R. Tyrrell, editor of the American Spectator.

Franken charged that the AS accused Clinton of drug running back in Arkansas when Clinton was governor. Tyrrell said he knew nothing about it. Then Franken mentioned Mena, Arkansas but mispronounced "Mena". Tyrrell immediately corrected Franken's mispronunciation. But Tyrrell knows nothing about all this, huh?

A minute later Tyrrell asked Franken to tell him about the Mena airport. This is interesting because Franken never mentioned the airport up to that point during the conversation. The drug running in question is of course the drug running related to Iran Contra and the airport was used for the trafficking. But drugs can pass through a town in lots of ways including automobile for chrissakes.

These dingalings on the right can't even cleverly cover their tracks with a softy like Franken - who I guess is not such a softy after all.

The next segment was with Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media Report and Friday regular, Joe Conason. Don't miss it at the archives. It's a discussion about Gannon/Guckert. Kincaid's arguments were terribly weak as Franken and Joe C. had Kincaid painting himself into a corner over articles his organization wrote about David Brock. That was only the last part of the conversation. They had Kincaid running in circles and even trying to dominate the discussion by bringing up Barney Frank. He was really reaching.

The last hour of Friday's broadcast is a "must listen" if you can stomach the wingnuts. Conason is so terrific.

1. I heard that
That was a good show. And yeah, Franken does come across as a softy but when push comes to shove he's not afraid of going toe to toe with the right. The thing he hasn't learned yet is how to really dominate a discussion. Fortunately he had Conason there to help him out with that. But Franken is getting better all the time. I had stopped listening to him in the fall, but I've started tuning in again here and there.

3. Thanks
That slid off the first few pages here at DU, so I didn't see it. The Gannon discussion at the end of the show very pretty heated.

I often listen to Thom Hartmann. But go back and forth to Franken according to my interest in the topics. It's a pleasant thought that we have excellent choices and then the various archives to catch up with what everyone is discussing.

I'm going to miss Peter Werbe tomorrow night since he's still away. But tonight, there's Nate Clay streaming from WLS in Chicago.
