*'s facial tic/twitch/jerk
I remember vividly when I saw * during the 2nd debate with Kerry as he would constantly jerk his jaw from left to right when his mouth was open and he was not speaking. I thought it was such a cocky bullish thing of him to do before I understood that it was involuntary. The man had a jaw twich. That was Friday Oct 8, 2004. The next day (Saturday) I happened to flip across C-Span and there he was at a rally in some northern state (Minnesota?), bragging how well he did at the debate. His face was ashen (it was cold, but still) and he could not stop twitching that jaw. I almost felt sorry for him. It was that apparent, he couldn't help it. Sometimes there were two twitches before he realized it and clenched his teeth. That stops the visible twitch. I was not surprised when I heard that day that the resident was going to spend two days at his ranch in Crawford. Figures, I thought, they are going to put him in working order again, drugs, etc. Well, two days later he was a new man. I saw the twitch only once after that.

Do you know what I'm talking about? Can anyone find the C-Span footage from his rally on Oct 9, 2004? He looked the worst I have ever seen him, and the twitch was incredibly obvious.

Has anybody commented on the nurology of that tic?

2. It can also be a side effect from some medication.
Adjusting the medicine or adding another to stop it could change it right away.

3. People on cocaine work their mouths from side to side
sometimes. It's how I used to tell when my X was high.

4. I've seen speculation that the condition is due to a stroke...
Here's a link to the theory.

Plausible. I'm not saying that I agree with it, just that it has some legs as a possible explanation.

5. May be meds. I remember a rumor that Bush had a freak out...
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 05:22 PM by marew
that had leaked from the White House(I think it was last July)and was put on heavy duty medication at that time. Don't know if it's true but wouldn't be surprised if it is. His mental health has been questioned for years and he was (and may be) a long time substance abuser. Has to have some significant brain damage from that. He didn't start out with much, blowing up frogs with firecrackers as a kid. Once an insensitive jerk, always an insensitive jerk.
I think we all have the right to know what meds he's on. Many people who think God talks directly to them are in hospitals. I predict an awful lot will come out about Bush's mental health years after his death.

6. he's quite the fidget, even when he's not stressed
Remember the interview with Barbara Walters (I think it was) when he couldn't keep his knees from jiggling?

Some comments on Bush's eyeblinking and jaw movements:
