CNN's "Inside the Blogs" feature a good excuse to use the word "blog"
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 03:47 PM by thebigidea
My god, how many times and in how many permutations?

Then Judy promos an upcoming segment, where once again "wonkette" gets to pontificate on blogs despite not actually being much of a blogger these days.

Blah blah the impact of the internet blah blah the same story they've been doing for how many years now? Yes, CNN, I think your audience knows of this "internet" now. Forget covering Gannon, lets just say blog some more.

blog blog blog.

What do other bloggers have to do to get some air time? Blonde wigs and not actually updating their sites might help.

until then, blog blog blog blog star blog osphere blog blog why do they keep bloggity blog blogging blog blog. blog? blog, sir.

Kurtz on now, prepare for condescension and the word blog. blog!

WONKETTE: "I get my information from the mainstream media."

well, yeah.

1. Does wonkette know she's being used to destroy...
...the very medium that made her?

It's pretty clear to me - MSM is most definitiely threatened by this new medium and is out to destroy it.

3. well, she's already mostly a "tv personality" and will do endless book PR
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 03:56 PM by thebigidea
I love the irony of becoming famous as a blogger... that doesn't actually blog, but does tv pundit duties and will soon plug her book with Hannity-type frequency.

7. Well, someone should tell them that there's more of us, than there are of
them. Reminds me of those early white man invades Africa movies. Where the white men may have better weapons, but the Swahili-looking Africans slowly step their way toward their bunkers with spears drawn and flimsy shields out which don't do much to stop bullets. But it doesn't matter, because they keep marching forward, knowing that the white men will soon run out of bullets.

14. Not only are there more of you, but..
a very good number of you are committed to providing the rest of us with news information that the CCM refuses to show. I find myself getting more and more info from blogs that have proven to disseminate accurate information.

17. She Wants The "Drudge" Treatment
Drudge's a blogger, but no one in the corporate media would ever use that description...he's "mainstream" now...even though his own stories have very little credibility. Wonkette looks like she wants to be in that netherland between corporate media and the Internet...sucking off of both ends. My bets are she'll do it.

2. The more they talk about blogs
The more of their audience they're going to lose to 'em.

"Look at our new feature where we talk about blogs!" Or, you could... you know... just go to one yourself and skip all the commercials.

9. You mean cover the stories covered by the blogs?
*GASP*

Hey, it's all about them. That's why there's so many
news stories about news people out there.

It's all they know how to cover.

15. spun the way only cable news can spin...
Jusy Woodruff & crew pontificate over *the blogs* like some sort of peculiar new species of bird they have never seen before :eyes:

And I love this "blog expert" they have in the studio over on the sideline. "Oh my! It's a blog! It's so strange! What do you make of it??"

19. LOL...
Cut that out! LMAO..

Sad thing is it's so true... I've seen it so many times.

Maybe they need to poke it with a stick or something? It's
like one of those '50s B movies where they encounter an
alien race.

11. They just don't get it
Blogs are popular because the corporate media is not doing its job!

The fact that Bush got over 50 warnings about 9/11, did nothing, and then covered it up until after the election is the biggest political scandal in 50 years. Yet, we hear next to nothing about it on CNN. Do you're fucking job people!!!!

13. These talking heads just don't get it.
Blogs wouldn't have any traffic if the corporate media reported the fucking news. The fact that these blogs have become relevant is a direct commentary on the complete corruption of big media outlets. It makes Kurtz' mewling all the more ridiculous. They don't get it.

We give these big media types way too much credit. They're actually pretty stupid.

16. CNN: "On the world stage, she's Rice the rockstar."
coverage like that might explain the rise of the "blogs," CNN.
