Hostettler asks Bush not to enforce removal of 10 Commandments monument.
http://www.tristate-media.com/articles/2005/02/18/pdclarion/news/news1.txt

WASHINGTON-U.S. Rep. John Hostettler sent a letter Thursday to President George W. Bush asking him not to enforce the ruling issued by a federal district judge Jan. 31, who ruled the Ten Commandments monument at the Gibson County Courthouse must be removed.

In the letter Hostettler told Bush the ruling made by U.S. Southern District Judge Richard Young in the case of Russelburg v. Gibson County, where the removal of the monument was ordered, is not consistent with the intent of the framers of the Constitution or the Christian heritage of the United States.

He asked the president to order the Justice Department and the U.S. Marshal's Service not to enforce the removal of the monument as ruled by the federal court, or enforce any future appellate courts' rulings in the matter, including that of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The federal judiciary has "no constitutional or statutory means be which to enforce its own opinion," Hostettler wrote, and it would be U.S. Marshals or the president's "employees" who would be called to enforce the ruling.

Why the hell does this fucking idiot have to be my congressman?

2. That would open up one hell of a can of judiciary worms...
Using that logic, then, the President could just go ahead and declare anything that any federal judge has "no constitutional or statutory means...to enforce (their) own opinion".

I doubt they go near that with a ten-foot pole.

What a dumbass. Good to see your congressman's priorites are well in order.

4. He's so attached to his graven image that ...
he'd like to force a constitutional crisis so as to be able to continue to worship it.

He is like everyone I grew up with in that district. They scare the pants of me today.

6. Technically, he is right in saying they do not have enforcement powers.
The SCOTUS cannot order anyone to go in take it down. They can order that is it unconsitutional and must be removed, but who do they have power over to order to remove it?

7. I don't mean to gloat...
C.Levin is one of my senators and S. Levin is my congressperson (can't forget Sen. Stabenow).

OK, I am gloating; but believe me we here in Michigan have our fair share of chuckle-heads.

8. This is actually great.
Putting Bush on the hot seat with his batshit insane fundy supporters.

Take a fucking position Bush, please. Do it - show your fucking base what kind of man you are.

I hope the fundies keep on bringing it to this administration. I would like them to see just how bad this admin plays them.

9. That's what I am worried about.
* doesn't care about constitutionality. He only cares about keeping the fundies whipped up into a fervor. If he would decide not to enforce it the door will be swung WIDE open for all these bat shit crazy fundies to stuff their religion into every orifice of government.
