1. "says we've been taken over by fringe people"
Yeah, darn him! Why'd that Fringe CRM type take over
a fine place like that?

2. You mean he's just now noticed that most of their posters
are barely literate oafs who thoughtlessly ditto quotes from right wing pundits and think they're dead clever?

Right wingers sure are slow to catch on.

10. I read the whole thread. 'scuze me while I go yack...
...Okay, I'm back.

Apparently Hannity is trying to lure Freepers over to some website of his own he's setting up. It's basic marketing ploy.

6. Of course they've been taken over by the lunatic fringe
Jimbo purged all the reasonable members from the site.

Not so ‘Free Republic’: The Shot Heard Around the Net

The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the President’s ‘guest worker’ amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration.

21. I particularly like this paragraph:
<snip>

By taking sides with the open borders lobby, Jim Robinson has taken a position that is at odds with more than 80 percent of the Free Republic community and the majority of conservatives in America. The fact he is using tactics his own users would find unethical to censor articles and silence opposition with banishments and intimidation is of great concern to all of us as Americans. New members of Free Republic and those that are not aware of Robinson’s covert attempts to stifle debate should be warned.

<snip>

The Free Republic Open Borders Lobby (FROBLs) is a group of Free Republic members that support the President’s immigration record and amnesty plan. They are jubilant that Robinson and his moderators have joined their side of the debate by targeting their opposition. One regular supporter of the Bush immigration plan that posts under the name Bayourod, exclaimed “there aren't that many of you left, and the ones that are, are mostly lightweights who don't understand the issues. Watch for the ones who call other FReepers names. They are the immature ones who are (in) way over their heads.” Other posts make it clear that those members that represent the minority view in favor of the Bush immigration plan are quite aware of and supportive of the banishing of their opposition as well. The FROBLSs may be in the loop, but many other Free Republic users do not know that their counterparts are being treated unfairly.

12. Annyone want to bet that the Gannon/Guckert scandal has to do with this?
Hannity is just sucking up to the left wing blogs because he doesn't want to be outed like Gannon. This is probably a good indicator he has skelitons in his closet.

16. My take on this:
I wonder if the right-wing leadership and the media are working together to delegitimize blogs (and other Internet resources).

To that end, they don't mind sacrificing one of their own if it means shutting down the left-wing blogs & sites they see as doing them political and monetary damage.

Or maybe I've been hanging around here too long :P

To: 1Old Pro
Personally, I cannot listen to the guy anymore. His show is boring, and his ego is just too much. I've switched to The Savage Nation instead. Mike is more in line with my thinking.

18. Free Republic: A freakshow of political pornography (Sean Hannity)
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 10:34 AM by IanDB1
Sean Hannity talking about FreeRepublic.com

Audio clip:
http://www.freepgs.com/mcgruff/audio/HannityOnFR.mp3\

Years ago I used to follow the freepers, I haven't been on there for years now, honestly.

I know there are some good people there, because I meet them at some of our book events and different station events that we have. I'm sure we'll see some of you Freeps at our Barnstorming Freakshow of Political Pornography Tour that we have coming-up this year
...
<exasperated sigh> But I left that board in particular and everyone I knew basically left because of so much childish, immature personal attacks. The propensity there to eat their own. And a lot of the people-- most of the people--I knew that were on it left.

But we have created a really great site on Hannity.com . And uhm, you know, uh, we are not going to allow it, like other places, to be taken over by fringe people. It's just not gonna happen here.

19. hardy har har
It's because Jeff Gannon is all over freerepublic and was on there bragging about all his stories and the Niger docs, and used his FULL fake name, and referred to Hannity and others in such a way that it leaves no doubt it is the same Gannon as the 'ho Gannon.

They are divesting themselves of him quicker than they would a bad case of crabs.

"Persona non Gannon", a new meme for our time.
