Watch out for a Congresssional end run around Fitzgerald on Plame
If the Republicans learned anything from Iran-Contra, it's that they can do an end run around a prosecutor about to break open a case by granted immunity from prosecution in return for testimony in congressional hearings.

I suspect, this one will be the Plan C the Republicans use as a last ditch effort to keep it all from oving forward. Watch for it and raise holy hell if they start rumblings of Congressional hearings after indictments come down.

1. I doubt it.
It looks like they have found their scapegoat and it is Judith Miller.
The scenario I have constructed is that Chalabi got the CIA dope on Plame, and then told Miller, who then told Novak.

3. Then Chalabi becomes the focus....who leaked it to Chalabi?

And I don't think Novak can say Miller....didn't he attribute his info to 2 high placed administration officials?

4. but what if Novak got that via Miller?
it gets a little messy here. Either the judge wants corroboartion from Miller on Novak's sources, or Miller herself was the source.

2. Yes, but
That means they would have to hold congressional hearings. Wouldn't that give the dems more room to manouver and subpoena power?

5. Executive Privilidge, Walt
You know they're Fitzgerald or anyone is getting close to something when we start hearing that term invoked.

I still have confidence in Fitzgerald due to his work breaking the George Ryan case open here in Illinois. He didn't cover up for the party and I hope he's kept this same independence on the Plame case. One encourage side is the lack of leaking of testimony or anything from his investigation (compared to Starr's partisan leaks)...if he were working for RoveCo. this investigation would have gone off the tracks by now.

I'll say it once again, I'd be nice to have a Democratic advocacy group...a team of lawyers...well funded...who can do what Congress won't go within a DeLay mile to do...investigate with some teeth. Just like Klayman's Judicial Watch...let's launch a civil suit on some of these people...put them and their friends in front of a judge, jury and under oath and listen closely. I say it's money well spent.
