It's proving to be a tough morning in radioland..
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 07:22 AM by liberalpress
I'm usually better than this, but I'm working as morning news anchor on an extreme right-wing talker and the host is being extremely annoying this morning. He's getting on my nerves.

I need encouragement people!

I was also a journalist at one happy time in my life, before the news became entertatinment. Hard to believe that was less than five years ago!

:hi: from Knoxville!

3. This is a good sign
the rightwing hate talkers are in for some rough road. Their team is in control now, so they're on the hook for the mess we're in. No more blaming the liberals...though they'll try. But exactly how stupid do you have to be to not realize who's pushing the bizarro legislation we're seeing clogging up state legislatures? Or the crabwalking on the federal level. Dismal economic projections. Iraq continues to drag us down. The environment, education, and healthcare continue to decline. And then there's the bad press about Gannon. So, expect the wingnuts to be cranky. They're losing their enemies. We're not the bogeymen(women) they've painted us for years.
And when you lose your enemies, you lose your momemtum. And your audience.
So, yes, they're particularly annoying.
They've got nowhere to go.
We're on the down side of this particular cycle. Their days are numbered and they know it.
Pity the dinosaurs. They'll be extinct soon.

7. Yo, liberalpress. Can he see you when you are on-air?
If so, give him a big, knowing SMILE when he starts spouting that shit. Smile like you know something and don't say a word. This will start to creep him out and it will damn sure affect his timing.

If you want to get a little feisty (and you have audio control), try some parrot sound effects as a reply.

Solidarity!

10. I like the "shit-eating grin" deal..
..subtle, non-threatening, but effective. What's he gonna do... complain I smile all the time?

12. Started in '69...
...do you miss radio as much as I do? I barely recognize the business today.

13. It is a shell of its former self, no?
I miss ribbon mics, vacuum tubes and analog sound, but I refuse to miss audio tape. It was not worth the hassle, but it was all we had. Don't even get me started on carts; I've had to repair about a thousand too many.

Voice tracking is a Tool Of Satan, BTW. The connection between live DJ and audience was a very sacred thing.
