I just figured out the REAL reason Bush and co are so against gay marriage
They are afraid if gay men settle down in domestic bliss it will dry up their pool of self hating closeted folks for them to exploit.

2. No
I think it is because the Repukes will lose the religious right if their Press Secretary gets married to a certain reporter!

3. May be some truth in what you say...
But, the real reason is that it wins elections.
These pukes, like really good trial lawyers, have absolutely no intention of actually winning the battle over abortion or gay marriage. This should be perfectly obvious from the ill-fated anti-gay marriage amendment proposal, just before the last election.

The reason, the ONLY reason for their stance and activism is beacuse it gets "conservatives" riled up enough to bring elections close enough to be easily stolen, and provides cover after said theft.
No matter what the criminal fundies insist, expect no real push from a federal level for at least a couple of years-until it can be dusted off and used to activate the commoners again.

4. "According to anonymous sources close to the WH"
it's because * proposed to Gannon/Guckert and was turned down. The gay marriage ban was in retaliation because if * couldn't marry his Boy Toy, he'd make sure no one else could.

6. Are anti-gay gays the shock troops of the conservative revolution?
Supplying the Cohns and Gannons?

7. It would also cut down on the number of folks for the closeted
among the Bush Administration to have relations with.

:silly:
