Laura, you ain't no Jackie Kennedy. Now get over it
Frankly, I'm gettin sick and tired of her competing with Michael Jackson for media attention, with all this nonsense about her sudden flair for fashion and glamour, and what a big deal it is that she attended some big fashion show recently in NY, woop-dee-doo....and how she recently fired her top White House staffers and is replacing them with people who are more conscious of the fashion statements she's desperately trying to make and her new perception of how the White House should look.

Pickles, you ain't no Jackie for a couple of reasons: First, because you don't have the brains, the looks, the personality, or the mystique of a lady like that...and second, because your cowardly husband wouldn't make a pimple on JFK's ass. So forget about all this BS new image where you and your image makers are trying to portray yourself as the next Jacqueline Onasis Kennedy, and go back to being what you are, which is an insignificant blip on the radar screen. BTW, all these posh pink outfits or white outfits with a 6' matching scarf dangling from you neck aint gonna do it either. You are what you are....a walking, breathing PICKLE. Wear green. Oh, and stick to reading books to children who are on more on your own level.....and stop insulting OUR intelligence!

There, I feel better now.

1. After Pickles is done with the whitehouse
it will remind her of all her favorite things.

It will be redeckorated in a NASCAR/WaffleHouse theme.
And George is ok with that, as long as he gets his wish,
the oval office with Roman Gladiator movie theme.

9. You aren't kidding
she us trying to make a fasion statement--desperately. Everything she wears reeks of desperation.

Laura thinks the more she adds in embellishments, like big buttons and bows, ruffles all over , Austrian crystals, tight, ill fitting clothing that clings to her more than ample butt, bras made out of weak tinseled fabric that would not support a marble, grotesque patterns, such as awning stripes, and crazy placed flowers, and tablecloth shawls that actually hurt the eye, bizarre bright colors that do nothing for her, is real "fashion"

Jackie's wardrobe was simple, elegant in line, design and color and that was the beauty of it. She wore bows, but somehow it was coordinated with her figure and the dress--not stuck onto a shiny brocade dress in a place that emphasizes a middle aged belly

I noticed the puff pieces manufacturing an image of a woman very savvy in the latest fashion.

42. FAKE fake, fake fake
Or should I say faux. Just another bunch of fake bullshit from this White House trying to convince the public of something that just isn't true. Marketing. Branding. Image. I am so sick of it. She's doing it because she's being told to, not because she gives a crap herself. Besides, I'd much rather see her forget the "style" and do something of substance; like really advocate for children or the poor or some damned thing. I have never seen a bigger waste of a woman in my life and it's absolutely sinful.

It's because we ALL know what that White House would have been with Teresa. Class, substance, style and most importantly, STRENGTH.

Laura can't hold a candle to Teresa, forget it. Never going to happen.

I'm glad you weren't around when Eleanor Roosevelt was,she wasn't exactly a knockout.

Mrs Bush is much older than Mrs Kennedy was in the early sixties also.Ageism seems alive and well on DU.

21. Eleanor Roosevelt WAS a real woman not a stepford, cardboard
cutout, who knew the difference between right and wrong and tried to move society to improve. She was someone that I could respect, not like the mafia/stepford wife, Pickles. Mrs. Kennedy had more of a sense of style at a younger age than Pickles - big surprise. It seems that Pickles still doesn't have much of a sense of style, values and I suppose that it's just sad when all of Georgie's money can't buy those things for her.

It's not about ageism.

25. Nope, not at all. You referenced age. I don't think it's about age
at all nor is it totally about style. Mrs. Kennedy had more of a sense of who she was at a younger age period. Pickles still doesn't seem to have a clear sense of who she is.

Shopping at thrift stores doesn't make you anything. I could assume that you like a good bargain and that you are comfortable enough with yourself to find things at a thrift shop that look nice on you and compliment your sense of how you wish to present yourself. But, you know what is said about assuming.

22. Huh? I'm not criticizing her looks per-say. I'm sickened by
the PERCEPTIION she's been trying to portray, ever since the Inaugural Ball where it was painfully obvious what she was up to with the JOK fashion comparisons! Have you not been watching? She tries to look the look and walk the walk of Jackie, and it's PAINFUL. Get ready for an onslaught of Pickles shoved down our throats by MSM in the near future. You enjoy it if you want, but count me out! :)

She's become as sickening to watch on TV as her husband. And just like her husband, the channel now gets changed the instant she comes on the air. :puke:

26. Perhaps it would be a good idea then, to write to the lump
and tell her that the fashions, buttons, bows, ruffles, shiney clingy, tight unflattering (and outrageously expensive) gowns, she chooses do not compliment a woman of her age, doncha think?

A body ages--no one is saying part of aging means you must desperately try to look younger and wear skin tight clothes to prove you are still as sexy as you were when twenty! In fact,I suspect that is very much her problem; she grieves the loss of her younger, sexy appealing self. Most of the time, when seen in photos, she and George do not look as though they are a romantic couple. She walks behind him many times, he is more interested in looking at the camera than at her, and generally seems aloof and away from her, even when he goes for the kiss photo op, where she, often has the body language of leaning away from him. In fact, he looked like he enjoyed kissing Lieberman more than he enjoys kissing Laura.

I, and many like me, much prefer to see a woman age more gracefully and choose clothing that considers the overall appearance, colors that enhance that ensemble, makes them look good instead of like an ornament on a Christmans tree, and btw, confidently sexy, in their later years, than this apparently shallow, minded woman and her desperate attempts to keep up with, or compete with, her twenty two year old daughters.

Queen Elizabeth always looks elegant and has established her own style. She is never seen wrinkled as Laura often is, or adorned in grotesque patterns or fabrics as Laura often is. The Queen is far older than the lump and looks great and coordinated almost all of the time. She also has much the same body type as pickles but we see no drooping, sagging old boobs, reaching for her waistline, as Laura often is seen

idiot husband's. She won't listen to or seek advice from anybody. Any personal shopper at Nordstroms could tell her what looks good and what doesn't on a woman her age with her figure.

She either won't listen or she won't ask for an opinion, and she ends up looking like a disaster every time.

40. Laura serves as a caricature
And I think that's what we're responding to...the whole family and their satellites are people, but they're people we will never, ever know. I think when someone calls Condi a "gap-toothed freak" or Jenna "pudgy" they're responding to the character of the players, not the humanity. I don't see any humanity in these people at all, and I have friends who have gaps in their teeth or who are overweight, and I think of them as very attractive.

I think that when we make fun of appearances, we're just letting off steam and responding as anyone would to a person we think of as base. I don't think that makes us childish or immature. It doesn't help matters any, but it allows us to appreciste a certain interpretation of a caricature. Maybe I see things a little differently because I'm a cartoonist. But something in me wished I could have drawn that pic of Laurs speaking to that wide-eyed boy before the photo came out.

43. Good post. To take it one step further, I look at it like it's our duty
to pick on creatures like Laura and "Chucky" Rice, considering what they stand for. If someone like Laura is a blatant phoney for trying to be someone she's not....and if Condi looks like an evil version of Chucky the Doll and David Letterman combined......well, then we have to go with it and accentuate those personal characteristics for our own ranting pleasure! As you imply, it's not like we're picking on shallow people (like Laura) or ugly people (like Sec Rice) in general. We're being rightfully selective.

In fact, it's too bad that main stream comedy shows aren't what they used to be. In the old days of Saturday Night Live, they'd have someone impersonating Ms Rice with huge paper mache bunny teeth sticking out of her mouth about 6 inches like tusks when they do their skits. Now, we'd all know that it's an exagerration, but it would be funny. Hey, maybe with you being a cartoonist, you could draw up an exagerrated picture of her looking like that for us....and one of what Laura looks like in the morning before she adds on her 25 pounds of makeup.

All in fun :)
