It's January 2005
Dean or Kerry or Clark or..... has just been sworn in. 2,000 Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis are dead. It's an all out quagmire. We're still essentially alone there. In Afghanistan there's been a resurgence of violence against our troops. Tension with North Korea is at an all time high due to their ongoing production of nukes. Unemployment is at 7%. The new Congress is still pretty evenly split and as contentious as ever. WTF can the new President do? Has bush so damaged our nation that it will be nearly impossible to change course? Am I being overly pessimistic? BTW, even though I'm a Dean supporter, this scenario is almost enough to convince me that we need an insider (Kerry) as the nominee.

6. This is one of my worst fears
I think Bushco will concede the next term easily because they know what a mess he's making. I think he should be required to serve so he has to deal with the mess he's made. He's created so many problems a new president won't know where to being first: the economy, the environment, foreign relations, terrorism, domestic issues...all have been screwed up by the resident.

There's not a lot to look forward to in '04. I really don't want a win for the Dems.

4. I'm not saying
that insiders have any more or less of a clue. I am suggesting that outsider Presidents such as Clinton and Carter have had trouble dealing with Congress under circumstances that could be seen as less dire than the possible scenario in '05.

5. just go home
we left Somolia after we lost a some soldiers. Was that the right choice? I don't know, should we have been there in the first place? Do the somoli citizen deserve to be free from the killing and starvation? If we go there are we now obligated to go elsewhere in the world to stop the starving and killing in those countries? Wern't we starving and killing people and children because of the sanctions in Iraq? Are the sanctions lifted? Are we still killing people and children in Iraq? What the? I don't have the answers! What about Liberia, should we stop the killing and starvation there too? What about the U.S.A. shouldn't we do more to stop starvation here, don't we owe this to our citizens? I'm at a loss.
