"Jeff Gannon" on Radio Canada International
So this evening I was listening to "As It Happens," broadcast on Radio Canada International. I listen to it on my shortwave radio.

Anyhow, the "Jeff Gannon" Story got coverage, and they interviewed him. Wow, that idiot is amazing in how he tries to defend himself.

He lied (surprise!) and actually said he doesn't throw the White House softball questions only. He said he throws them curve balls as well. So what was his example of a curve ball question? The time Tom Daschle placed a hold on some of Bush's judicial nominations, and apparently there was going to be some agreement that Bush would NOT make any recess appoints, if Daschle would remove the holds. So "Gannon" says he asked Bush why he reward Tom Daschle's "obstructionism" by giving up his constitutional right to make recess appointments.

1. It's amazing how far two days of journalism school can take you.
(Just don't tell the Taliban.)

3. Exactly!
When he was asked about his journalism credentials, and what makes hiim a 'journalist' he cited all his work for Talon news! What an idiot.

Well I have news for dear old "Jeff." I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media Arts/Print Journalism from an accredited four-year university, and I doubt very seriously I could get WH press credentials.

4. I love shortwave!
Listening to shortwave radio gives you a totally different perspective. I hate to say this, but sometimes other countries do a better job than we do, of covering news that happens right here in our own country!

My favorite shortwave stations to listen to are Radio Canada International and Radio Havana Cuba.

I love Radio Havana Cuba for their Bush bashing! They give it to him hard, but they tell the truth!

18. Mine, too...and I add China Radio to the list (although the
reception lately has been crappy for some reason). I like the BBC in the AM also, esp. Newshour and on Sunday, Talking Point.

I haven't listened to AM radio for going on 2 years, since I got my radio. I sometimes pull in Bernie Ward from SF, but very poorly.

However, we may lose shortwave if this powerline transmission thing takes off. One of Powell's last acts was to see that the ruling on BPL was approved....

19. shortwave stations..
I like China's shortwave programming too. My other favorites are Radio Japan, and Radio Netherlands.

When the reception is good enough, I listen to the Voice of Russia World Service as well...but lately their reception hasn't been the best.

Enlighten me please, on this powerline transmission issue you refer to. I'm not really aware of that. What is it?

6. All apologies to Canadians everywhere..........
we, citizens of the United States, humbly apologize for unleashing this horrible, horrible man upon your wonderful country.

Collect him, drop him in any mailbox, and postage is guaranteed back to the White House, c/o Karl Rove.

Thanks again, and we owe you one.

10. Great! I am glad the Canadian media have picked up on...
this. It means they see it as having legs for the right reasons! The more 'Jeff' keeps talking, the bigger the hole he digs.

14. ROFL!
or Rick Mercer! I would pay to be in attendence at either one of their interviews with 'Jeff', the faux reporter. Wonder if he would show up in his white undies?

15. I totally agree ....
Rick Mercer would make him look like a bumbling fool, Rex would simply tear him to shreds. Maybe the CBC could setup a tag-team interview?

17. ya know, this thought just came to me when I heard that you were
listening to an interview with Gannon/Guckert on Radio Canada International....

Here is what he said on his website, when he jumped ship:

"The voice goes silent. Because of the attention being paid to me I find it is no longer possible to effectively be a reporter for Talon News. In consideration of the welfare of me and my family I have decided to return to private life.

Thank you to all those who supported me."

Man, for someone whose voice is 'silent', and doesn't want attention paid to him, and wants consideration for the welfare of him and his family, and has decided to 'return to private life', HE SURE IS OUT AND ABOUT A LOT! He's been on practically every interview show, and I guess, is now doing international interviews! My oh my. What is going on?

Don't need short wave to get CBC in Calgary! It was hilarious. Mary Lou had him dancing like a drunken cowboy, in an old Western, who pisses off the evil gunslinger. "Dance, ya worthless varmint!"

Yea, Mary Lou Fenley had him on edge. I love her style of interviewing. She doesn't just take what the interviewee is feeding her. She prods further and ask probing questions.

Lucky you to be in Calgary.
