GUEST OPINION: Remember New York

Thursday, September 11, 2003

- by Jim Hauser,(formerly from Rochelle, Illinois) Pascagoula, MS

Pascagoula, Miss., Apr. 19, 2002 - The guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) glides to sea this morning, passing Pascagoula area pleasure fishermen, to rejoin the U.S. Atlantic Fleet following 14 months of repairs after a terrorist bomb blew a hole in the port side of the ship while it was refueling in the port city of Aden, Yemen, on Oct. 12, 2000, killing 17 sailors. The repairs were done at the shipyard of Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, Ingalls Operations. U.S. Navy photo by Stacey Byington. <020419-N-0000B-002> Apr. 19, 2002
OPINION -- first penned 9/12/2001 -- When the USS Cole was bombed last year the entire world once again saw the effects of terrorism. This was an act of war committed by a band of international criminals. Many of us saw the videos and pictures of the gaping hole. Many of us expressed outrage and demanded justice.

We watched as the crippled warship was loaded onto the Blue Marlin, a heavy lift vessel. We then tracked it's progress back to the United States while at the same time following reports of the investigation.

Most of the nation only knew that the Cole was being transported to a shipyard in Mississippi for repairs. For those of us who live near that shipyard, it meant a close-up view of the realities of war. The USS Cole would be docked less than one mile from my front door.

http://www.illinoisleader.com/opinion/opinionview.asp?c=8351

EDITED TO ADD THIS HORRIBLE LINE FROM THE ABOVE PIECE! (What a sick ahole :wtf:)

"It would be quite fitting, I think, if somehow the USS Cole could be there to fire the first shots in the coming war."

God Bless America.

Flipping the Byrd (Gravitas Envy)

Maybe we could be fair about this and give Senator Byrd a space shot too. Why not?

Let him spend a few months aboard the Space Station. That way he would be kept off of the Senate floor for a while and the dear Senator from West Virginia would finally have a chance to be re-united with his head.

Jim Hauser
Mississippi Editor

Jim is a product of the mid-west counter culture of the seventies. He was born in Frankfort Indiana and raised in Rochelle Illinois, not far from Ronald Reagan's boyhood home. The second of seven children, Jim was brought up in a very strong Catholic atmosphere. His parents gave him just enough rope to get into trouble but not quite enough to hang himself.

After his tour of duty at Rochelle Township High School, he hit the job market. Several years of working at various manufacturing facilities and a brief stint as bassist for the now defunct acid-rock band Syberite induced him to head south in search of good food, warm weather, fame and fortune.

Finding only the first two items on his wish list, Jim settled in at Pascagoula Mississippi and became an HVACR controls technician in the commercial, industrial and marine markets. In 1987 he took a leave of absence and headed to Boulder Colorado where he joined a right-wing radical group known as the Boulder County Young Republicans.

It was there where he first became active in conservative politics while he worked as a graphic artist for the Shelton Group. Jim returned to Mississippi in 1988 and rejoined the HVACR firm as a partner. In that same year he attended the Republican Convention in New Orleans and was heavily influenced by Ronald Reagan and J C Watts.

It goes on to read that Hauser is a pro-life activist who "firmly believes in God, the Constitution and family values." His columns can be found at sianews.com, but his own website, www.jdhauser.com, no longer exists!

9. He apparently turned off his site in Jan or Feb 04...
The message I get from his site is there's no default page and directory lists aren't serve-able. No Big deal, I do it a little more politely by serving an image. This means you have to know the fully qualified URL to obtain something from his site.

The internet archives yield his tripe from Aug 01 - through Jan 04, then nothing.

He seems firmly planted in the middle of the "rectum-crainium inversion wing" of the republican party.
