RNC "intimidating" TV stations with FCC threats- re: Soc Security Ads
RNC challenges ads criticizing Bush's Social Security plan

snip

The RNC's letter noted that the stations have a responsibility as holders of Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) licenses "to avoid broadcasting deliberate misrepresentations. ... This letter places you on notice that the information (in the ad) is false and misleading."

1. How brazen
The President and his minions are allowed to lie constantly, but they are going to report anybody who advertises the truth? That's nuts.

3. This behavior is "red flag" unethical or illegal!!!
They are THREATENING over ads which they "convict" as "false and misleading". It appears to be a form of blackmail to me

There is something very, very wrong with this.

I'm gonna study this a bit more but I am certain that this behavior is unacceptable,...even egregious.

5. These stations should have their attorneys raise hell about blackmail,...
,...because this letter can unquestionably be interpreted as a form of blackmail.

Moreover, since the RNC raises the issue of "false and misleading" material, the stations should REJECT ALL GOVERNMENT SPONSORED ADS WHICH APPEAR "FALSE AND/OR MISLEADING"!!!

The RNC is showing its fascist tendencies and should not in any way/shape/form be appeased!!!

10. If they are interested in re-establishing their credibility,...
,...they could use this as a weapon against the right-wing, character-assassination machine.

But, they have to fight/fend for themselves, too!!!

...ENZYTE ads?
How many OTHER forms of "false and misleading" adverts can we think of?

"Ditech-dot-Com"
"1-800-SUE-THEM. Why workk the rest of your life? "
"Ask your Doctor"

Just saw an ad on CNN for a RW group imploring us to call our congress critter and tell then to let the pretzeldent FIX social Security. This message paid for by the Drooling Priapic Stockbrokers of America, Inc...

And what about religious TV? Shouldn't telling people fairy tales and threatening them with the Boogyman to get 'em to send in their savings be illegal, too?

Fuck the RNC.

15. Hold the Republican Bastards to the same standard.
<<"to avoid broadcasting deliberate misrepresentations. ... >>

Does the RNC do anything else?

Lincoln (he would turn in his grave) said it best. (Major paraphrase going on) "Never oppose an unjust law, it will only be used against you. "Instead, demand that it be enforced equally and fairly." "So far as I know, this is the fastest way to remove any unjust law from the books".
