4. Yes, yes it is.
At least Nixon was just being an underhanded sleazeball with Watergate. These are truly fascist tactics that * is using.

6. No
1) The press manifestly lacks the balls to police itself.

2) The reason Watergate had legs as a story turned out to hinge on issues like Nixon's enemies list (especially the fact that it featured many reporters and editors) and that Nixon himself was, to say the least, not a warm and fuzzy person, and was easy to dislike. So the press did turn on him, and part of the motivation was personal.

Chimpy McCokespoon does not inspire that degree of antipathy. (Plus they all know that hard questions "get noticed in the building.")

11. I agree, not bigger, but
it provides a nice entry of the payola scandal into the White House, clearly the Payola thing can't be blamed just on overly enthusiastic GOPers

With an overly obedient media devoid of true investigative journalism (that is unless a Dem gets a bj) there's very little hope of this or anything else going anywhere. Plus white-collar crimes are so hard to follow, one reason why it's hard to get convictions in these cases. The public and juries' eyes quickly glaze over when the minute details of financial transactions are laid out.

which will make it harder to nail down. Watergate was about ONE event that could have laser-like attention.. This is almost too big to cover and have people wrap their brains around.. It's everywhere...in education, in churches, in municipal governments, in congress, in the White House, in news organizations, in entertainment, in radio, TV, magazines, advertising..

It's a whole concept..a philosophy.. and that will make it almost too big to take on.. I fear that snippets here and there will come out,but in the end little will happen.:(

9. The Busheviks are closer to Ferdinand Marcos' followers
than Nixon Republicans.

They have alreday done two or three dozen things that make Watergate look like a kindergarten milk heist.

They are as American as the original King George and his minions.

18. Different Time, Different Place
Watergate came after a decade of questioning and scrutinizing what our government said...and to expect that most of what was being said was a lie.

Today there's a lot of sheeple with blind obedience in a government they've been brainwashed into believing is defending them from a wide list of evils. There's a generation that has grown up in a fishbowl of "American superiority" and has been programmed to vision that "superiority" in the image of George W. Bunnypants. When he's attacked, so is the country, so are they.

These are the same folks who love watching the invasion and harp how there's never any good news. They're also far removed from the suffering this and past wars bring. They're out to create glory and empire...even though they are too buffalo'd to realize it. It's all wrapped up into be "American"...or some perceived image.

In Watergate, it was the Media that was the most distrustful of Johnson & Nixon. Now, we have a media in the hip pocket of this regime; fearful of losing money, access and their government perks.

This fire is inside the firehouse...and the firemen are sitting around saying "smoke? I don't smell anything...must be those "libruls" pulling the fire alarm again..."
