Impeach & treason charges for bush VIOLATING his OATH OF OFFICE
to defend the US Constitution. When is his impeachment & treason trial scheduled to take place?

Dkos: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2005_02_06.php#004759

Regarding bush's apparent desire to default on the US Treasury notes held by the Social Security Administration almost certainly violates his oath of office in which he swears to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/pihtml/pioaths.html

That would be the Constitution which reads (Am.XIV, Section 4): "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."

So...when's his trial? Has a date been set yet?

6. That is true
Anything that happened before yesterday can be written off as a "youthful indescretion"

I had a LTTE published this week in my local weekly in response to why two Connecticut residents were treated so differently - Martha Stewart goes to jail for a minor crime, yet John Rowland has yet to do time for 10 years of majoe league corruption. My short letter was something like, "Stewart is a prominent Democrat and deserves the book thrown at her in the name of personal responsibility. Rowland is a Republican, and any wrongdoing that occurred is somebody else's fault."

3. It sure takes a lot
for Republicans to DO THE RIGHT THING and say this is not right!

How can they stand by, in relative silence, and let the * co. destroy this country?!

5. Good catch there on the constitution.
I hadn't thought of that before--but yeah, it is highly questionable.

That said, talking about not paying the debt isn't the same as actually not paying the debt. So he might be able to weasel out of this on the old "I was just talking" excuse.

congress again. So the issue is moot.

10. "public debt." Does that apply to debt instruments held by government?
Serious question, the Constitution refers to public debt. The bonds held by the SSA are not held by the public, are they?

Funny thing about the law, you have to read it closely.

I am not a conservative or an apologist for Bush by any means, but I am a lawyer, and I have to point this out.

12. SS Has Nothing...
SS has nothing to do with "including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion..."
