Every republican I knows sounds like a brainwashed robot.
These people will act almost normal until the subject of Bush comes up. Then they all turn into the same person saying the same talking points. It's like a different part of their brain takes over. Is there some subliminal message they receive from Bush speeches or too much exposure to Fox News and Limbaugh?

5. The best thing I can compare them to
is a herd of cows!! Cows move without direction and are non alert to most that goes on around them. Sounds just like the repugs doesn't it!!! I bet they would follow B*sh over a cliff if he held out an ear of corn to them!!!

6. well I am sure they all think the same of us
you know our "hate Bush" buttons are fairly universal and easy to push. It's a mystery to them how we manage to hate him so readily and easily.

7. It's a form of faith, or religion
They can't come up with the facts to support their support for BushCo, so all they have are the talking points. It's like a thumper who has to spout a bible verse every time he's confronted...they just don't know what else to do.

8. You really hear it on call-in shows
C-Span's Washington Journal especially, it might even be their first stop of the day.

Maybe we should keep track of these talking points, to start:

Bush is a man of God
Bush is a moral man
Bush loves God
Bush is the finest president we have ever had
Bush cares about the people

11. Okay, I'm going to try and relate the conversation I Just had with my Dad
Dad: I just got this letter from AARP and I think we can make a difference here talking about the profit made for the drug companies and getting meds from Canada.

Me: Yeah, I know. Nader has been talking about this for years.

Dad: Well, let me read it to you . . . reads something about re-importation of meds into the US and the profits made by the drug companies.

Me: Dad, I know. Why do you think this is Breaking News? What has Nader ever done to you and why do hate him so? All he has ever done is be a consumer advocate.

Dad: Well, I haven't heard anything about this on the news. And if Nader has done anything, why isn't it on the news?

Me: Because the Corporate Media doesn't cover the news.

Dad: Like CNN.

Me: Yes, the Conservative News Network.

Dad: CNN is SOOOOO liberal.

Me: No, it's not, it's conservative.

Dad: But, why haven't I seen anything about this on the news?

Me: Because the news stations are owned by corporations.

We ended up shouting at each other and I hung up on him and sent him a link to citizen.org

Lovely.

-Cindy in Fort Lauderdale

12. So how do you deal with members of a cult?
Is there some sort of "intervention" we can do? (I get the same response from my republican acquaintances).

15. We get letters to the editor of our conservative local newspaper about
every week saying something to this effect. "I don't know why the liberals hate our president so much." or "Why can't we all just get behind our president?"

I think of answering them but I know it would be like talking to a stone.

16. Orwell called it "duckspeak".
"As he watched the eyeless face with the jaw moving rapidly up and down, Winston had a curious feeling that this was not a real human being but some kind of dummy. It was not the man's brain that was speaking, it was his larynx. The stuff that was coming out of him consisted of words, but it was not speech in the true sense: it was a noise uttered in unconsciousness, like the quacking of a duck."

That's exactly what it is. It's more mimicry than real speech. They don't even know what the sounds mean. They only know that making those noises is encouraged.

17. And when you destroy all their "duckspeak"
they start up the "Clinton had sex and lied speak". That's what they all, 100%, revert to when their little programmed responses fall apart.
