Mary Mornin (3 jobs, 3 kids, bush says 'fantastic'). The WHOLE story!

OK, so most of us have heard about Mary Mornin, the single mother of 3 (one mentally ill) who works 3 jobs to support them. Here's a summary of Bush's dialog with her:

In Omaha on Friday, a divorced single mother named Mary Mornin tells the president, "I have one child, Robbie, who is mentally challenged, and I have two daughters."

"Fantastic," the president exclaims, and he tells her she has "the hardest job in America, being a single mom."

Later, the 57-year old Mornin tells Bush that she works three jobs, which the president deems "uniquely American" and "fantastic." He asks her if she gets any sleep.

The worst part is yet to come. Afterwards, Mary was interviewed by the Omaha Herald, and this is what they reported:

Friday, she was happy to help Bush contend that older Americans, like her, wouldn't see any reduction in benefits under his plan. That would be important to Mornin, a divorced mother whose mentally challenged son lives at home. Besides her parish job, she also works for a telemarketing firm and a management consultant.

Mornin said she was nervous before going on stage, but Bush put her at ease.

"It was wonderful," she said. "He is the nicest man."

"He is the nicest man." That's the reason: Bush has this fake charm that he pulls out, this "good ol' folks" kind of attitude that all these people just love. I honestly wish no harm on this woman, but it it gets to the point when the bills are overdue, she's stressed out from working too hard, and things just don't fall into place (a trend that's becoming unfortunately more and more common in this country) that she takes a good long look and realizes that even though he's the "nicest man", he simply doesn't give a shit about her, or the millions like her.

is how people went on and on and on about Kerry and Teresa's money but people seem to forget BUSH IS RICH TOO! Bush didn't work for a lick in his life. People always bailed him out and cleaned up his mess. At least Kerry made good grades and worked when he was in college (a bottle factory) and knows what it's like to be poor (when his ex-wife divorced him he had to live with friends). Bush has no clue.

And it's not occurring to any of them (apparently not even the mom with three jobs) that she shouldn't have to carry the entire financial burden of the disabled child by herself.

Plus, where is the father(s) of the kids? Why do they not have a responsibility for helping out? No matter what kind of a slut she might be, she didn't acquire any of these children via virgin birth.

And no, I'm not at all suggesting she is or was any kind of slut. It actually sounds like she's an example of one of the many of millions of women out there who wind up on their own, in a hostile economy, which can also be pretty brutal to two-parent families.

The real issue is the inequities in our culture, which far too many people think is okay. So long as they myth exists that everyone has an equal chance, or at least an equal chance at winning the lottery, these injustices will not merely be tolerated but approved of.
