Each and every WH Reporter must be aware of the Gannon story
and be following it in some way, through real research, reading blogs, or just office gossip. They all know. The story is everywhere (except in the MSM). It is a damn juicy story, and it affects all WH reporters by association.

Are they all going to ignore the phony, lurid Elephant in the middle of their press room?

Which correspondent will have the guts to actually do the job and tell the whole Gannon truth, without favor or prejudice.

Just the facts. That's all you are asked to do, MSM. Just the facts.

You all know the story. Who will tell the story to America?

We are waiting...

5. NPR's piece covered almost nothing
It said a WH correspondent quit, and it mentioned that Jeff Gannon may not have been his real name. But it didn't go into:

* Fake names are not allowed for the WH press corps
* He doesn't have ANY journalist credentials (I'm not going to admit that a 2-day joke discussing the evil liberal media is any kind of credential)
* Therefore, his presence may have breached security protocols, rules, or laws
* He was refused a congressional press pass but has been receiving a daily WH pass for 2 years
* His "media" organization, Talon News, was essentially a Republican activist group funded from Texas
* Everyone else listed at the his faux media organization has no journalism credentials, only lots of Republican political activist credentials
* He is one of the only (perhaps THE ONLY) "journalist" who claimed to have received classified documents regarding the Plame scandal
* He has been a regular poster to FreeRepublic for the past 2 years, during which time people and he joke about his easy questions to McClellan
* He is tied to gay internet porn (which isn't, of course, the main point, but part of the story)

9. Can you imagine if there were
a MSM outlet that reported the whole, real news? The other stations would be left in the Dust like the old days when they were All battling to be the first.

17. in fairness, they did cover some of those topics...
...--the lack of Capital Hill press credentials, for instance, and some of the Texas repig roots of Talon News, and his internet porn, although they partly covered that with his explanation that he put up those sights for "clients."

Still, it was not exactly a redhot story, and they played it with a sense of bemusement rather than alarm. Small steps, hopefully....

4. I watched the Olbermann segment on this
He showed the press conferences when this shill asked his questions. While he asked his questions, the other so-called journalists just sat there with these blank expression on their faces like the dude's questions were completely appropriate and not out of the ordinary. The entire press of this nation needs an enema.

7. That's great that they showed the reporters' blank expressions
They will feel a Righteous Wave of Shame when they see themselves in inaction.

Perhaps that shame will motivate some of them to act with integrity now and tell the story plainly all over the MSM, for it merits this kind of coverage far more than any Kobe or Scott Peterson story ever did.

6. It won't be the one who lobbed another one today...
with a twist..

"blah blah, isn't Medicaid maybe more of a problem than SS at this point? blah blah"

the Chimporer goes into a 2 min explanation of how it's just a mess, and he'll be looking into it... next target is Medicaid.

so, older folks won't lose any benefits from the SS dismantling, but oh, sorry, you'll be losing your health care instead!

8. I'm sure you're right
They ALL have to know. I wonder if they are waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Maybe there is a closet full of shoes ready to drop.

The silence is deafening...we've heard it for a long time. I believe there's MUCH more to be disclosed...and soon.

13. But disclosed by whom?
Every time I tell someone about this Gannon slime they ask, "Where was that reported?" On the blogs, I say, and AAR. "Oh." they say. Somebody has got to punch this story through to the American public. This is a serious scandal, but no one knows about it - or won't admit knowing about it...

26. Look.
I broke this story about the scurrilous Jeff Gannon a full year ago. February 18, 2004. I tipped Dan Froomkin at WaPo the story that night, and he reported a bit of it the next day, and linked to my blog.

I posted the info here on DU. It slid off the page, as so many important things do.

At the same time, I wrote Media Matters, and other media critics.

The silence was deafening.

Here's my original story:

15. Helen Thomas.
I don't watch the press briefings anymore since she got banned to the back seats. Is she still allowed to attend if not comment? If she has been totally banned, do we care? There is no real press in the White House anymore.

who were the customers of this gay "escort" service and what might "Gannon" and his handlers have on them? I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but this sounds a bit "JFK" to me.

23. The Presstitutes are paid to ignore the lurid Elephant.
If people were to hear the truth, the next thing Corporate McPravda would appear is bankruptcy court. You pegged it, SpiralHawk. How many, and how long have they known?

The members of the Fifth Estate are supposed to do their job in order for us to remain a free country. It's tragic:There are only a few White House reporters who are true journalists. Helen Thomas is one. There's a fellow who doesn't get called much from an irregular syndicate, but other than these two, I'm hard pressed to name a reporter who's actually tried to tell the truth abut the Bush gang.

Good thing there's DU. Otherwise, Rush the Dop, Tim GOPert and Ruppert Murdoch would hog everything we see and hear.

25. NY Daily News : Bush press pal quits over gay prostie link
WASHINGTON - A conservative ringer who was given a press pass to the White House and lobbed softball questions at President Bush quit yesterday after left-leaning Internet bloggers discovered possible ties to gay prostitution.

"The voice goes silent," Jeff Gannon wrote on his Web site. "In consideration of the welfare of me and my family, I have decided to return to private life."

Gannon began covering the White House two years ago for an obscure Republican Web site (Talon-News.com). He was known for his friendly questions, including asking Bush at last month's news conference how he could work with Democrats "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality."

Gannon was also given a classified CIA memo that named agent Valerie Plame, leading to his grilling by the grand jury investigating her outing.
