Countdown w/Olbermann - It Took Condi Rice For Mideast Peace?
WTF!?

Just saw promo for Countdown w/Keith Olbermann...

"Why did it take Condoleezza Rice to get the Mideast finally focused on peace: the power of the new secretary of state" or whatever the hell she is.

Every spot where I see her speaking over there she sounds like she's ready to burst into tears.

1. What did Condi Rice have to do with this agreement?
She wasn't even involved in the talks.

10. Yes but she needs positive press now.
Cant let the truth get in the way of PR.

12. I still contend that Keith will say something snarky,
funny and outlandish against neo-Condi.
I'm sure the ad was a ploy just to get you to say :wtf: - you know, like you did! ;)

14. Hey KOEB buddy! I agree! Snarky to the bone!!!!
What they want everyone to believe is that Shrub and Co. put this all into place. Bullshit! He sat around for close to four years and DID NOTHING to advance peace! Condi probably wants to "burst into tears" because she's away from her "hubby"...UGH!!!!

2. Yep, ain't she great.
I'm sure Arafat's death had nothing to do with it. (sarcasm)

3. I've noticed that too - she does sound like she is about to cry.
I hate seeing Condi take credit when the key is the new palestininan leader and the Israelis. Bush hasn't even been reading the same book, let alone on the same page.

6. I wonder if she has that same voice problem
as Bobby Kennedy Jr. and Diane Rehm. It sounds similar. (except for what actually comes out of her mouth, that doesn't sound like them.)

4. Yeah, couldn't be that Arafat kicked the bucket and the Palestinians have
a new leader......could it?

5. she always looks to me like she
thinks she's in a Miss America contest or has just won it. that's how i perceive her "poise" anyway.... what a lightweight crock.

7. Mwahahahaha! Mainstream media really cracks me up!
What next? They will agree with Bush's statement that his "budget is the most reponsible since Reagan"? Mwahahahaha!

8. I rather suspect Keith will be snarky about this.
;)

And, as far as Condi's about to burst into tears goes, she's probably missing her husba...erm.. boss.

13. And I suspect you're right! I can't see KO fawning over Rice
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 06:37 PM by Nothing Without Hope
when he has been basically the only TV journalist telling the truth consistently for some time now.

Clark2008, I will be out during our KOEB meeting tonight, so I'll be relying on you and the other Brigaders to get the goods on this point so I can read about it later tonight.

Condi Rice walzes in, gives out some kind of action-at-a-distance radiation, and suddenly there's peace? Anyone who sees her visit as having any role in this is either totally Kool Aided or is part of the blivet** propaganda machine. Keith Olbermann is neither.

Now Faux News, yeah, that's about right for them. Another night of dispensing the Kool Aid.

Edited to add:
The MSNBC article linked to (not written by KO himself) in Keith Olbermann's newsletter is a fairly long description of the ceasefire, with many quotes from both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6906348

In this long article, the only mention of Rice is in one sentence:
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in Rome that there seems to be a will for peace in the Middle East, and warned the Palestinians to move resolutely to control violence against Israel by its own people.

That doesn't sound like any attempt to make it sound like she had any role in the ceasefire herself.

11. Condi is clearly out of her element now. Whispering in GW's ear
of all the evil countries out there in need a good whippin' is what she does best. Not this dog and pony show.

17. What a load of crap!
It was the work done by Egypt and Jordan that resulted in the face to face meetings between Sharon and Abbas. I have no doubt Condi was told NOT to show her face there as the US is not seen as an honest broker and never will be.
