The right wing is PHONY on the issues!
The one thing that I'm starting to realize about the radical right is not only how wrong they are on the issues, but how phony they are on the issues!

They are phonies on illegal immigration. When it comes right down to it, illegal immigration leads to cheap labor. The right wing is all about cheap labor! I don't think we will see the right wing do anything meaningful regarding this issue any time soon. They'll make it a racial issue to energize the bigots in their base, but will never come up with a practical solution. They don't want to hurt the profits of the dishonest business owners that exploit the illegal immigrants!

They are phonies on the abortion issue. Abortions increased under the Bush administration, yet the right wing voters continue to vote for him. And how can you be anti-abortion and anti-contraception? It doesn't make sense. It goes to show that the right wing doesn't care about "the unborn" at all. They care about controlling people and imposing their religious beliefs on them. Saying you are against abortion and being against contraception is like saying you're tough on crime but being against crime prevention.....wait a minute, the right wing does that too....

They are phonies on crime! They claim to be tough-on-crime, yet they overload the prisons with non-violent drug offenders. This causes dangerous criminals to be released early due to the mandatory minimum sentences imposed on the drug users. Also, anybody who doesn't live under a rock knows that there is a link between crime and poverty. The right wing does not believe in fighting poverty, choosing to instead help the richest and most powerful Americans. They also want to slash funding for putting more police officers on the street.

There are probably many more examples. When are the American people going to wake up?

2. Not to mention how they deliberately name programs
the exact oppposite of their intent.

"Clear Skies Act" increased pollution

"Healthy Forests Initiative" cut down trees in old growth forests

"Women's Right to Know" restricted access to health care and forced women who wanted certain procedures to 'think about it' and make another trip back to the clinic

I'm sure there are more, but I'm going to go throw up now.

3. Welcom to the enlightened!
That is how they have been for a long time. With them up is down, in is out and everything is nothing.

4. Under Clinton, crime was reduced to lowest levels in 40 years!
Under Bush, crime now increases! And Bush's budget just CUT funds for local community police officers.

Republicans - soft on crime. (How many times have you heard that?)

5. Never
They are using the issue for power. It is the oldest trick in the book. It is up to people like us to address real problems with solutions. That is what needs to seperate us from them. If we don't people will flock to the right, the right tells them what they want and plays thier fears.

7. Exactly!
The RW plays to the fears, and basest emotions in people. they play to the mean-spiritness, greediness, and selfishness that is appealing to many people. How nice to not have to care...to be told it isn't YOUR FAULT that other people are starving (even though they are starving to fuel the rich people's enrichment)

And they DO care about the unborn. They care about it only because they want to control women's choices. If they are so pro-life, then why is it that they go to the hilt to "protect" life in the womb, then give that same life a giant middle finger once it emerges from the womb into a world of poverty?

They cut education programs, Head Start, they cut welfare programs, social safety nets for FOOD, they cut school-lunch programs, they cut funding for LIHEAP (which provides heating fuel for poor families in the Northeast) meaning those families now have to choose between heat and food...they cut Medicaid/Medicare funding so that poor children who need medical attention do not get it....

And then they wonder why, after a life of desperation and deprivation, there is such a high crime rate!

Oh, they deal with THAT by putting the person away. They love to mete out punishment after the fact, but do NOTHING to address the root cause of the problem BEFORE a tragedy occurs.

And just look at the inequity of it all...crimes more often committed by the poor are treated far more harshly than the crimes most often committed by the rich.

May I hold up for your examination, Ken Lay...he fucked over thousands of families, robbed them of their pensions and jobs...their very fucking livelihood...and left them to fend for themselves while he bailed in a golden parachute...I bet if we're lucky he does six months in a Federal country Club...but the junkie who holds up a 7-Eleven for fifty bucks and a Mars Bar will get 25 years!

Bastards!
