Irish gore film duo make it in Mexico
Henry McDonald
Sunday February 6, 2005
The Observer

Portadown - the citadel of Ulster Orangeism - has become Ireland's 'Hollywood' of cult horror movies.

Part time film-makers Andrew Harrison and Darryl Sloan also drive stakes through the heart of Irish cinematic cliches. Midnight Pictures' manifesto promises 'No love-across-the-barricades; No terrorists with a heart of gold; No conflicted priests and/or policemen; No soundtrack by the Cranberries.'

Their fame, spread through horror fan websites, has led them to an American agent and their first television broadcast: Portadown's horror moviemakers are about to become big in Mexico.

Taking a break between filming their sixth short horror picture, Don't Look in the Attic, Harrison said they found it ironic that their first big break into television was thousands miles away.
