The Private Schools are Uniting in Florida:
Does this make them a P.A.C.?

"Private schools discuss voucher query"
Tuesday, September 9, 2003

<snip>

Officials from about 60 private schools throughout Florida gathered Monday for a hastily called meeting about how to handle a six-page state questionnaire on their programs, practices and safety standards.

The online form, which is due to the Florida Department of Education by Oct. 1, is the first tentative step in accounting for the private schools that use tax dollars to pay their tuition through the corporate tax-credit voucher program, one of the state's three voucher programs.

But the meeting, called by the Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools Inc. and sponsored by that group and the state Department of Education, was not just an information session about the questionnaire.

It also was a forum to warn private schools that lawmakers -- spurred by reports of questionable practices by people and schools involved in voucher programs -- plan to crack down. And it was a call to action if those lawmakers go too far.

1. Damn repugs
have been trying to kill public schools for years... it's reached the point where public schools don't even have money for air conditioning and have to close during warm weather... but still there's $87B for humvees and tanks and grenades for Iraq.
