anyone else noticed more words being bleeped on TV lately?

I watch mostly funny sitcoms lately (TV Land and the like) and the Golden Girls is one of my particular favorites.

Well, I noticed more and more lately the bleeping out of words like "ass" and the usual swear words that people generally discourage their kids from saying.

This morning I was watching the Golden Girls and there is a scene where Blanche says "Jesus!" (as in "taking the lord's name in vain" or whatever they would say in church) and they BLEEPED it out!! I was so stunned- they have never done that before b/c I have seen the episode a few times.

This has obvious religious implications. Swearing is one thing- it isn't religious and most people agree on kids not saying swear works (I could really give 2 sh*ts about that but that's just me). But, this is a religious word- specifically Christian! A Jewish person wouldn't care if someone said "Jesus!". God, it seems like this country is becoming more and more right wing everyday (pun totally intended).

I only watch movie channels now and Discovery, History, Animal Planet, Nat'Geo, etc.

2. Daily Show and Mr. Show on TBS

often say shit without getting bleeped.

There goes our children's future! God forbid they hear a couple bad words on tv. As for CSI promos... bring on the gore! Helps to toughen up the youngsters!!

They've done a number on "Family Guy" reruns. Glad I've got 'em on DVD...
