Official Allawi Victory Thread
Even though no votes have been counted, I just wanted to be the first to congratulate Ayad Allawi on his "victory" in the first ever Iraq "election."

1. I wonder what happens if Hussein wins on the write-in vote?
Wouldn't that be interesting. But I'm sure you are correct.

2. The Iraqi people will have spoken
And it will have been a great day for democracy. The people of Iraq will have rejected the terrorists and embraced the American way of life. And democracy will have still been on the march.

So, I too congratulate Allawi on his pending victory!

3. Peeance & freeance have planted their poles of liberty....
Congratulations, Mr. Allawi, the people have "spoken", not it's time to "move forward" and for the defeated candidates to realize that majority "rules".

4. We won't know the results for some time, right?
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 11:20 PM by Stirk
They've got to... *cough*... count the votes, then appoint an assembly, then the White House has to issue a memo to the Iraqi assembly informing them of who they've decided to put on the council to officially choose Allawi... and then they have to call a press conference to announce that Allawi has been "elected".

10. LOL!!! Oh you can't claim it's the "first ever Iraq election" anymore,
because even the rightwingnut "liberal media" has been saying "first free election in Iraq for years".

Now that they're admitting it's NOT the first ever for Iraq, we can't mock em for that one any more. :D

11. Now is the time for the other 572 contestants for "get over it."
Seriously, did you HEAR the number of candidates? Over 200. More candidates than voters, I suspect.

With 0% of the precincts reporting.
