A plan to win the white house: 2012
The democratic party to me has become deeply flawed. I propose the formation of the American Nationalist Party in certain states to run for offices in 2006, 2008, 2010 and nationally in 2012. This party must incorporate both good conservative and good progressive values. Our party's platform:

1. Adherence to the Constitution. This means full and absolute respect for civil liberties, respect for civil rights (for all), and checks and balances for the government (so no imperial presidency).
2. Streamlined American government. This means cuts that would be popular here (military), and cuts that are not popular here (endowment of arts, things of that nature).
3. Reform of drug laws. Using the money saved (and earned) from repeal of prohibition as tax cuts for all brackets of people.
4. National health initiative. This not only means universal health care, but also a national health initiative in which we promote healthy life choices for children at a young age.
5. Absolute committment to the common defense of the nation. This means reducing our prescence overseas, and concentrating on prevention of terrorist attacks at home.

To do this, we will need money from wealthy patriots who increasingly becoming disgusted with the politics in this country. Just today I heard about Ted Turner's tirade against Fox News. We will also need like-minded politicians (dems: READ BOXER and repubs) to come to our camp. How do we bypass the Fox news rambling about how our party is absolutely insane??? We simply dont run in red states immediately. We begin running candidates for congress, and spending money in 2006 only in states where we have a good chance of winning (CA,NY,new england). We set a goal by 2008, we have a solid but vocal minority of senators and congressfolk in out there. By 2010 we expand our operation to red states with strong libertarian tendancies (AK, MT,etc), and then we run our first presidential candidate against the republican party in 2012.
This can be done. It will require time, energy, determination, and money but dont believe FOR A SECOND that a 3rd party has no chance in this country, it just has to be built up regionally, just like the repubican party was.
I am going to bed now. If you have questions, pls post them and I will try to respond (I dont have all the answers, just ideas).

1. I was interested in 3rd party politics until Bush came along.
Then I just became interested in removing Bush from office.
Anyway, I am back to thinking that a solid third party is what America needs to steer Democracy back onto course.

2. Thread Prediction
This thread will either be locked or deleted. You can't propose an indirect attack on the Democratic Party on Democratic Underground. I think Skinner's opinion on this matter is that you should put things like this on some other website.

Your comments are worthwhile, but not exactly welcome here.

Tiresias has a rather libertarian thesis, but it was politely written.

5. Tennessee needs something - besides Frist.
that's for sure.

Dems and Reps are selling our poor and working-class down the proverbial road.

:hi: fellow Tennessean.
