Morning Edition gives up whoring for *
Hey,

Just tuned in to hear Don Gonyea (sp?) explaining to Scott (yuck) Simon why the Tenet mea culpa only raises more questions about WH culpability. Next up was Susan Page, a former State Dept. official, who spoke even more strongly on the same theme.

If Whoring Edition Saturday has stopped spinning for the unelected moron, the wheels have definitely come off the Rove spin machine.

1. Daniel Schorr was good, too.
Too bad about Scott Simon. You can hear him drool every time "war" is mentioned. He really disappoints me.

2. maybe Scott Simon is looking for something at this point in his career
What that "something" is, I don't know, but we are talking about a man who started his career in radio as a children's program host known as "the man of 1,000 voices." He read children's books on this program and used different voices for all the characters.

4. Daniel Schorr was great this AM!
I was half asleep when I heard him but will post the link once it's up on the NPR website (after 1200 EDT).

19. yes he was great on all subjects except...
when he closed out the portion of the program with his pro- Sharon
anti- palestinian remark...

sorry i don't have the quote in front of me. to me his Zionist attitude is
Daniel Schorrs only current flaw. though he still finds occasion to bash
anyone whose name ends with Clinton.

20. Schorr said
something like, what a "cheezy way to run a government".
in reference to crediting Brittish Intel.for the lie in question in the SOTU speech.

3. what network are you referring to?
is it on CBS?
Because CBS seems to be drifting a little more to the left lately.

7. If what I saw last night on MSNBC was any indication
W's toast. And I never though I'd say that again. Thought so too many times. But when they laid out the timeline, then wrapped it up by mentioning the speech months before SOTU where the same statement was taken out, it was just so damning there was no way it could be backed away from. It was just out there. They knew it was a lie and put it in anyway. Now it's just a matter of figuring out exactly who "they" are. It's too good of a story. It's not going away. In fact, I hope, I hope, I hope, SOTU may be this summer's SHARK ATTACK! Well, I can dream can't I?

...I think Don G.'s last name is spelled "Gagne." Sorry for my rude "butting in." :hi:"

But thanks for filling us in on NPR and Weekend Edition. I've been a huge fan for 20 years now, and I've been really disappointed in how NPR has rolled over and played dead for the Bush juggernaut.

On Edit: Fixed typo

23. Kay, thanks
I listen to NPR almost every day, but I wasn't the one who brought up the original topic. I just posted the link to the Tom Tomorrow cartoon that I was reminded of by it.

I always try to spell properly, so thanks for the correction. :hi:

I started off reading the thread, read the Tom Tomorrow cartoon (which our local weekly independent newspaper had printed!), then promptly forgot who had begun the post.

11. In Ron Zeigler's famous words. That story is no longer operative.
There was just no way the Bush line could be held up any longer. To coin a phrase, "one swallow doesn't make a summer". Let's see how long they stay with it.

You have to hear Daniel Schorr's comments today on Weekend Edition -

"Tenet MADE to fall on his sword"
"planning for war goes back to 1992"
"cheesy way to run a government, isn't it?"

here's the link
http://discover.npr.org/rundowns/rundown.jhtml?prgDate=07/12/2003&prgId=7

(click on Week in Review - about halfway down the page.)
