4. In the 30's it was with a strong left leaning populist president
and strong unions! It did not replace the ruling class, but at least gave it some balance.

5. Anything could happen in the future
We could become a shining Utopia, degenerate into a third world nation, or be taken over by hostile aliens. What's clear I think is that liberals and democrats need a new strategy. I think we have been in some sense sinking down to our opponents level, and lets face it, when it comes to playing dirty you can't beat the pros. I think there needs to be a movement away from trying to beat the opponent at there own game, and back toward educating people about what is right and good.

6. They came pretty close in the thirties
fortunately for them along came FDR and pulled their chestnuts out of the fire. Now, they're intent on dismantling everything FDR and his successors have put into place, if it get's as bad as the depression all bets are off.
