Is The SpongeBob Flap Rovian Cover For David Drier?
The SpongeBob flap smells fishy to me. Last month there were reports that David Drier (self-loathing gay man-CA) was about to be outed in a major way. Drier has become a big time point person for the GOP. He chaired the Gropinator's campaign. He's all over the MSM gab fests. He must be effective or they wouldn't have him out there.

Rove is always a step or two ahead of us. Let's say he knows that Drier is about to become a liability. What better way to diffuse the situation than to set up a straw man in the form of SpongeBob, a cartoon character, fer Chriss sakes!? We Dems promptly get into line and flood the media with our outrage that some low-level RW operative (Dobson - face it, he ain't Billy Graham) has his panties in a wad over a beloved cartoon character. The "controversy" gets major airplay on CNN, Faux and other RW outlets. Then it dies down after a week or two, and we feel all mushy that we beat back this ridiculous assault.

And then, voila! Rove will reveal his endgame. Drier is outed. As soon as we Dems cry "hypocrite" for his anti-gay votes, the R's come back with the "typical liberals...they'll defend a cartoon character, but when it comes to a human being with *real* feelings, they turn into a pack of wild dogs. No wonder Americans can't identify with them!"

It's brilliant I tells ya, brilliant!

3. Someone ... please explain Mehlman and Drier.
Why would either one of them hang out with such Rethug. hypocrites? Oh, because they are self-loathing hypocrites themselves. I guess they are just like any other Rethuglican I've ever talked to --- and I visited with Mo Reagan, etc. many times when I was young -- they insist on living two lives. They have a public facade, and then a private personna, and a life in which they engage in the most deplorable behavior around.
