The Unbearable Gayness of Children's Television (Hilarious)
As you may know, the right-wing extremists have kidnapped cartoon icon Sponge Bob Square Pants in their hope to instill hatred in the hearts of all little boys and girls.

Outrage is the natural reaction, but let's put this in context...Sponge Bob is but the latest in a string of childhood characters that have been chosen as targets for hateful conservatives.

Check out this excellent article that gives a hilarious history of Right-wing homophobia targeted at children’s television:

The Unbearable Gayness of Children's Television by Drew Johnston

3. I am organizing a neighborhood meeting tonight.
We are going to build a big bonfire and throw all the spongebob sqaurepants books, videos, & CDs in. That should teach our 4 year old children not to have any gay thoughts, or "Uncle Jerry" and "Grandpa Dobson" will come and take their Jell-O away.

4. Time to double up on the meds
Paul Batura, assistant to Mr. Dobson at Focus on the Family, said the group stood by its accusation.

"We see the video as an insidious means by which the organization is manipulating and potentially brainwashing kids," he said.

20. What a crackpot!
This is the same organization responsible for about 99% of the FCC complaints about TV programming under the lead of loser Michael Powell...thankfully resigned today!

7. Sponge = Contraceptive
Perhaps they targeted Sponge Bob because he represents a type of contraception. As we all know, contraception means premarital and or gay sex, which of course we also know to be inherently unGodly. Right?

15. "Square pants" = dead giveaway
"Square pants" are necessary for a "square" anatomy, i.e., square peg in a round hole, i.e. doesn't fit with "normal" society. Is this not obvious???? </sarc>

6. Hilarious!
Is there a march being organized by the world community of cartoons for the blatant discrimination of cartoon profiling? It is so sad that the people profiling are the ones on TV that have the huge pink poodle pouf hairdos', exaggerated painted faces and chirping voices...

21. Marches don't work
Haven't you heard? Marches are ineffective tools of protest. Instead, the cartoon characters should set aside a day and spend not one damn cartoon dime in their cartoon stores for their cartoon products...thus harming the cartoon small business owners. You know, like Mr. Crabby.

9. It's just a diversion
to get people talking about a cartoon character INSTEAD OF real, pressing issues.
Even the CNN poll is about Spongebob today. Ask not whether Spongebob is gay; ask what they DON"T want us to be thinking about.

24. anti-gay is the hate issue of choice
by dobson/falwell/etc and their so-called "christians".

since it worked so well in the election, they must keep all of america obsessing about gay sex, using any means necessary, for as long as it takes for them to push through their fascist agenda.

if it is sex, fox and cnn (with all their offshoots, clones PLUS the pathetic mainstream media) will cover it 24/7. that way we don't have to be bothered with the fact that the american experiment of democracy is dead-dead-dead.

13. Hi again, this is Jesus.
Hi again, this is Jesus. Just wanted to thank Steve for his insightful analysis of the usefulness of "hating faggots". Good job Steve!

As anyone who has read the New Testament knows, I've made numerous pronouncements of my abhorrence for gays. You can find it right after my barrage of epithets targeted toward 'negroes', women, the poor, children, old people, and those pain-in-the-ass cripples who insist on suckling of the public teat.

If it's not all about studly men seducing big breasted women, it's gay.

27. Strange, but you never hear condemnations of high-school
boys hugging, feeling each other up, butt-slapping, & even kissing right ON the football field during games. And this goes on even in the red states.
When will we hear Dobson preaching that all athletic events must stop because they are promoting homosexuality?

and then they turn into a rainbow-colored ball and fly around and make kids dance? Haven't they noticed how gay that is?

31. Boobah is some freaky ass shit.
I'm under the impression that the creators of that show got the idea for it after reading The Elegant Universe or some Quantum Mechanics textbook while tripping balls on some seriously good acid.
