At work today.....I was told I was too expensive.
I take all the special projects and do repair and calibration of all the machines. and do production as well.

They told me to call in tomorrow to see if I am needed.

I felt so insulted.....humiliated.

They think they can call me in to do the stuff they can't figure out.

They pay no benefits at all......we get paid when the job is completed and they get paid. I have started every project by paying for supplies with my own money.

I guess they think the illegal alien employees will now provide these services.

I suppose it's just the beginning of what is to come.

1. Damn, I'm sorry.
b*sh-reality sucks... Spend some time analyzing your worth to them. If you are able - demand a 2-4 wk contract ( it gives you some breathing room).

2. I will just charge them more when I work.
Their loss and mine. It's a lose lose situation. which will not speak well for our country or work enviroment.

7. I will take calls for $3.99 a minute
don't get me wrong....I like these folks.....and almost talked them out of voting for bush. Almost. They are squeezed. Trying to make a buck. Not keeping up with the Jones has a dramatic impact for these folks.

6. as a nurse with 20 years experience, I feel your pain
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 02:16 AM by Warpy
Hospitals cut costs on the backs of nurses, so they prefer new grads who don't make much.

I've also been told I'm too smart for some jobs (made the mistake of passing the racist and sexist employment aptitude test), too young for some, too old for some, and too female. Yes. They've actually said they really wanted a MAN for the job and hired some guy with rotten credentials.

The current management texts in B-school would make most people very angry. They detail how to get rid of experienced employees, where the cutoff points are when training some kid is more economical than keeping an older, well trained and efficient employee on the job. They detail how to recognize outstanding employees and put them into teams so that less than outstanding employees will learn his techniques and then the outstanding employee can be fired without having the company lose his skills.

This is the corporate culture. We are all commodities to be used up and discarded at will with no protections in place. This is what Bush/Cheney/Rice/Norquist/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz/Perle have all used to define everyone in this country.

11. Health care is so out of control
And this is another good place to start showing america to americans.
How has american ingenuity been replaced by the almighty dollar? Beats me but it has.

26. It's all about money. Not people. Not quality of work. Not people.
Just money.

This is America. Never forget.

And it's been happening for two decades, if not for far longer but carefully shrouded.
