I know, it's pointless. I saw the coverage of the parade on ABC - protesters throwing things at the cars, cops knocking them back with mace and what appeared to be small water cannons. I saw a fire on the protestor side of the fence that was never explained. I heard the boos and the sound of very unhappy people.
So, what does my local (Houston) news say? They talk about the wonderful balls, show some clips of the shrub's speech, show a clip the minister during the prayer. Then they show a few quick glimpses of "unruly" protestors with signs, not anywhere near the parade route. They say that some protestors were on the parade route, but not enough to have an impact.
:wtf:
There was an entire street of people that kept the shrub in his car. They were pissed off, and they were letting the world know. As soon as they turned the corner, shrub and pickles got out and walked and waved, like all was well. The crowd was chanting "Four More Years". Hey idiots, he's in, find a new fucking chant.
Even Peter Jennings was commenting on the impact that the crowd was making, saying that it was not the normal atmosphere of celebration that you normally see at this event. He commented on the "WWF Announcer" who was on the PA repeating things like how lucky we are to have such a great leader. He said it was creepy. He said that the procession looked like a military operation, not a parade.
Was I dreaming today at work while I stuffed invoices into envelopes? The little TV in the office seemed to be showing me those things. I don't understand how they can ignore the voice of the PEOPLE.
