CNN's "presidential historian" disses Europe
I forgot the woman's name, it wasn't Doris Kearns-Goodwin, someone else...

She referred to "our allies in Europe" then corrected herself and said "our so-called allies in Europe."

Someone should tell CNN (and I will in a minute) that our allies in Europe are still very much our allies in Europe, technically and practically, and that the idea that their opposition to the Iraq debacle means that they are not our allies anymore is a right-wing lie, and not fact.

1. I was flipping (looking for a movie or something) and MSNBC was showing
the Democratic Senators showing up. So I stopped to watch. Matthews said the crowd booed Kerry. The F@#kers!

Did you see that? I'm impressed that he has the cajones to go and watch. I'm not going to - it is too painful.

5. I didn't hear her elaborate at all
that was part of what offended me, first that it was totally gratuitous and second, that she didn't even explain what she meant. As an academic she should be held to higher standards.

But I wish I knew her name, I bet a little looking into would reveal she's not just any academic, I bet she's political.

15. So, When The U.S. Dollar Took Over. . .
. . .as the world's currency, from the British Pound, we stopped being allies with Britain? Allies are allies. Even if she WAS talking about the currency situation, it's still an incredibly stupid, and wholly inaccurate statement. I think you're trying to defend an indefensible statement by this shill.

7. Yes, Chirac is a conservative...
but he is a EUROPEAN conservative, who recognises the necessity of the welfare state and mixed economy, who recognises the need for international cooperation, et cetera...and compared to someone like Jean-Marie le Pen, Chirac is great...

8. center and center right in europe means different things than here.
though both are backwards looking.
however -- the center right in europe is often commited socialist principles -- they have ''difficulty'' with that homogenous society thing.

10. that's not relevant to whether France is our ally
France is in NATO, they are extremely active in law enforcement against terrorism, they still have troops in Afghanistan, regardless of how you or the professor on CNN feel about Chirac.

11. True
I have nothing against France. Just dont care for Chirac. He strikes me as someone who wants power. He strikes me as someone who would like to supplant the US as a world power by controlling the EU. I could be wrong.

After thinking it over though that wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing.
