But, Big Eddy's heart is in the right place. Not sure about his brain though.

Caller, its your turn..

3. "Dumb" in what way?
Look around, like it or not, simple terms are what are working getting messages across.

Yes, NPR and the BBC have much more in depth discussions, but talk radio has a niche. Ed fills his niche to get progressive messages across in a way that people will not turn him off.

4. Agreed
Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 10:28 PM by Mika
His lack of understanding of just about any topic (except football) that he talks about is just downright annoying to an info junkie DUer like me.

But he does fill that space between Rush and NPR. ;)

5. Sorry folks, but I dont hear that.
If you want a 2 hour in depth analysis of a subject, go to the library. You will not find it on talk radio. It is boring material.

Ed has something good going on. I enjoy listening to him.

6. I suppose that I can be counted as "knowing" what it takes in liberal...
...radio. I know (In my, and other people's, opinion)that I was "ok" in spurts, but I always knew that it wasn't my "Calling".

I've only heard the person in question a couple of times and I have to agree with what you said. He couldn't move a chair from the living room to a bedroom.

A bunch of sound and little fury...

12. Eddy isn't smart either. That's what makes him a loose cannon
He doesn't know his topic and half the time he regurgitates the RW talking points. That's why he doesn't represent the Left very well at all.

8. Ed worked on framing the Social Security'crisis' today - says it's purely
an effort by the neocons to totally beat the Dems down (he says if the Dems can't stand strong on this issue they're sunk), put money into the pockets of all those bush Rangers working on Wall Street, usher new young blood into the party, and win elections. The bush effort has nothing to do with taking care of current or future retirees, Ed says.

He also talked about the 'two word audio culture' today and has mentioned this in the past - that the right wing noise machine has perfected the use of two words to define most any issue, get people's attention and pound the point in incessantly - trial lawyers - tort reform - (help me out here big Eddie fans) - pro-abortion - - - I'm coming up empty - anyway, he can reel off a long list of two worded phrases that they use and wants our side to get with the program!

10. Big Eddy knows jack shit about Bush's SS plan, and misleads his listeners
For example, Eddy rants on and on about how the average American doesn't have the wherewithall to invest wisely with their new private accounts, and some might invest in Enron type stocks.

Umm.. Eddy, the people will NOT manage their own accounts, the government will select the managers who will select a few investments.

See this --> http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=114x13766

Even some callers were trying to correct him.. but NOOooo, Eddy keeps yammering on and on with this theme.

11. Yesterday Eddy wanted to ask Condi IF SHE IS A NEOCON
.. and would she risk her integrity by going before the UN and lying.

Huh? Where has Eddy been? Has he been paying attention to anything?

Eddy is out to lunch. He's a former rightwingnut who falls back on his RW talking points without understanding or analyzing the topic.

13. Eddy says no taxpayer money is being used on the inauguration
Guess Eddy didn't bother reading, as usual, about DC getting stuck with the security bill.

Next caller, its your time...
