How are the Right Wing Spinmeisters Spinning the search for WMD Ending?
Now that everyone knows that there were no WMD, and that Bush was dead ass wrong about Iraq needing to be invaded, how are Pigboy, Insanity, O'Lielly, et al spinning this?

1. Killing Muslims is justification enough for them.
Fundies call Muslims (and anyone who doesn't believe the way they do) "evil."

2. I asked the same question this morning and the responses led me
to believe that they still haven't come on record yet on the subject. Probably still polishing off the meme in e-mail.

8. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.
Okay, maybe not. But it was the first thing I thought of. Exchanged them for those night vision goggles at the beginning of this fiasco.

16. Then they'll claim that Ohio has 'em...
...so they can storm the state, unleash "shock and awe"--thus obliterating any evidence of election fraud.

Hey, ya never know with these cats. :)

Sorry, that's an insult to cats, isn't it?

18. I think I've heard them say Syria as well
Of course, Bill & Hillary helped transport them over there just ahead of Rummy & his boyz.

10. Exactly right. If they don't talk about it, it's not an issue.
It just fades away as a news item, or political issue. Conservative media (talk & news) drives the national agenda. Haven't you gotten that yet?

5. Maybe this should be a poll:
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 04:35 PM by BlueEyedSon
1. "We were wrong, there weren't any WMD in Iraq. Sorry!"

2. "They were destroyed in all the bombing."

3. "They are there, we just didn't find them yet because it's HARD WORK." :)

4. "They were smuggled into Syria."

5. "They were smuggled into Iran."

6. "Shut up if you don't want a room in Gitmo."

7. "RED ALERT!!! SOCIAL SECURITY IS IN CRISIS!!!"

6. They'll pull the old phony reverse:
and try to bring back the "So you're saying we should have left
a Brutal Dictator in charge?"

To which, these days, I guess the answer would be:
"Why not? We've got one!"

Maybe, but Clinton didn't start an illegal war.

13. Did you see the CNN spot?
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 04:40 PM by TwoSparkles
I was surprised to see CNN harpoon the Bush Administrations' response to the WMD search ending.

(note: I'm paraphrasing)
The CNN commentator said, "If you want to know how the Bush Administration is spinning the fact that no weapons of mass destruction were found, follow us to the White House briefing. In the interest of brevity, we've taken out reporters' questions so you can see the White House spin for yourself.

CNN cut to film of Scott McClellan saying, "We still maintain that Saddam had the capability and will to create weapons of mass destruction." CNN showed McClellan repeating that phrase--verbatim--least 8 times during the press briefing.

Lastly, the CNN commentator said, "No matter what question we asked, the response was the same." Then they cut to another shot of McClellan repeating the quote again.

I was shocked at how CNN nailed the White House use of spin and their lame answers to important questions, which were nothing more than canned sound bytes.

:wow:

Maybe Klein is serious.

It also sounds like CNN is starting to use Stewart's tactic of repeating the inane comments over and over again.

14. Their responses I've seen:
It's irrelevant. The important thing is that a brutal dictator who attacked no less than four neighboring countries and was a threat to civilization was removed. Iraq is now liberated from tyranny, and that ain't bad.

15. Various explanations.
It was just one of the reasons for going to war, it wasn't the only reason, and it wasn't even an important reason.

There were WMDs but they were shuffled away in the dead of night to the surrounding countries especially Syria which is why we need to go there next.

They are still there, they have to be, but we just can't find them.

Depends on what the definition of "WMD" is.

These are the ones I have heard so far - there are probably many others that make no sense either!

Russia and France to make bu$h and his administraion look bad.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson helped.

21. No WMD finding great news to the Kurds and Iranians.
We need to rapidly distance ourselves from the "never any WMDs" lie. "Bush lied and thousands died" makes a great bumper sticker, but the facts don't support it... if we keep up the diatribe, Rove et al will pull ram it down our throats.

Sadaam used WMDs against the Iranians and the Kurds. (lefties have even admitted that Rumsfield sold them to Sadaam)
The 9/11 report shows that Sadaam had WMDs AND links to Al Queda (6 or 8 different spots in the report)
Sadaam also actively supported Hamaas and other terror groups and he hid terrorists in Iraq.

Just a warning - we need to rapidly back away from this.... or else!

25. Senator George Allen
when being questioned by Chris Matthews (doing a good grilling for once), basically used the execuse that everyone in the world thought he did plus he brutalized his own people, we had a responsibility. of course one could always use the Joe Lieberman execuse, saddam was a weapon of mass destruction.

SH OBVIOUSLY got rid of his WMDs between the early 90s and late 90s. How could your fearless leader have been so fucking WRONG?

"WE" don't have to back away from anything.

27. I agree that he got rid of them
But the point is that he had them and that there was no proof that he got rid of them (even the UN admits that).

I'm just saying that this is a dangerous course for those of us that don't agree with the administration (I happen to be a socially liberal independent). I don't want to hang my hopes on "no WMDs" as the big thing to stick it to Bush.

28. All Bush has to do
is leak the intel from France, Germany, Russia, or any of the other countries and at the same time "find" some WMDs in Syria (or burried in the desert)... and all the "Bush lied" folks get lumped in with the tinfoil hat crowd.
