Newt: "This could be a 30-70 year war"
Just said it on FOX.

I'll answer this question before it's asked:

"Why are you watching FAUX?"

I'm occasionally watch FOX or other corporate media networks b/c I like to know what kind of crap they are saying that a lot of my family/friends listen to, so I can tell them how absurd it is.

2. perfect.
exaggerate it so bad that when it comes back to being "only" 4 or 5 more years, it won't feel so bad.

This happened to me once when I was a forklift driver, I backed into and knocked over $300 worth of covers and casings. When my Japanese boss wrote a note to the day supervisor, he said I totaled $3000 worth of them. When my boss found out the real total, he was so relieved he wasn't even mad at me.

4. He's not kidding
The neo-cons have been talking about a 50 years war for a long time. They started this talk way before the Towers came down, BTW.

No way.

If they really were planning this, they certainly wouldn't be talking about it out loud.

35. I wonder
1,300,000,000 Chinese people all wishing for better living through earth's natural resources.

300,000,000 Americans all hoping to maintain better living through earth's natural resources.

I am an old man I do not expect to see the end of this but I bet it will not be a hundred years. Much less I am thinking.

Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 05:40 PM by jdj
I stand by my original assertion.

The only reason they are saying this crap out loud now is that they thought Kerry would win, but Bush was able to swindle his way back into the white house and now this rests squarely on his shoulders.

They know we won't get out for at least 3 or 4 years and are looking for a way to make this look better than it should. Strategy is one thing, and spin is another; strategy is the secret plan and spin is what they use in public to sell the secret plan.

There is no way they would be transparent about any real plans they may have.

Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 08:07 PM by Stephanie

The neo-cons won. Powell is out. Uncooperative CIA people are out. State is being purged. Wolfowitz announces he's staying. The neo-cons are in charge, and they have been saying all along that it will be a 50-years war. They have no intention of stopping with Iraq.

Ex-CIA director: U.S. faces 'World War IV'
From Charles Feldman and Stan Wilson
CNN
Thursday, April 3, 2003 Posted: 5:02 PM EST (2202 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Former CIA Director James Woolsey said Wednesday the United States is engaged in World War IV, and that it could continue for years.

In the address to a group of college students, Woolsey described the Cold War as the third world war and said "This fourth world war, I think, will last considerably longer than either World Wars I or II did for us. Hopefully not the full four-plus decades of the Cold War."

Woolsey has been named in news reports as a possible candidate for a key position in the reconstruction of a postwar Iraq.

He said the new war is actually against three enemies: the religious rulers of Iran, the "fascists" of Iraq and Syria, and Islamic extremists like al Qaeda.

If its the "war on terror" that could make it hard for him to reach his stated goal of a hypothetical presidential run: winning the war on terror.

19. How long does is take to loot Iraq's oil -- 30-70 years?
Even if all the Iraqis bowed down to King George -- I doubt that would make a difference -- Georgie Porgy didn't have peace plans for Iraq nor did he envision an ending because he has no intention of leaving Iraq ever and the children today will be fighting tomorrow -- that is if he allows them to live.

30. It's because the war is not, and never was, about terror
It's about reshaping the world in our image. Luckily, the terror rationale will continue to work perfectly for them. Each brick they lay in their imperialist superhighway will most certainly be met with resistance. As per US propaganda, resistance = terror. So, we will continue to find and kill terrorists for the next 30-70 years. Truth is, most the resistance won't be of the shadowy Al Queda type, it will be indigenous peoples fighting to protect their way of life from the US. The American people don't need to know those details though.

concentrating on actual terrorists. In fact, it is designed to create more hatred and terrorism so that the playing field can be increased to include the entire earth.

now the us of A has been bombing mesopotamia for 13 straight years so does that mean only 17 to 47 years left. just doin' a lil' math. before that the brits (lord curzon and gang) had been beatin' and occupying the cradle of civilisation, since the mid 1920's. so does that mean the war has actually been over for a decade or more? just doin' a lil' history.
in the congo at least 4 million have died for western interests, need that coltan for our cell phones and satellite dishes, in just the last 8 years. is that war still in it's infancy newt?

I NEVER thought we went after other countries for oil and I never understood those signs that said, "No blood for oil." But this time, I think I was wrong. Especially since I have been hearing over and over about China, and how in the near future they are going to be our main competition for oil and energy sources.

Easier to invade Iraq than promote solar and wind power and it makes the Saudis and our friends at Halliburton happy too.
