There is no joy in America...
It’s over. Whatever hope your people had before the last three stolen elections is dead.

It’s bad enough your Government has been subverted by neo-Fascists determined to wage Perpetual War for Perpetual Profit…

You’ve even been sold out by your own so-called “Democratic” leaders.

And what for?

For the almighty buck, for the sakes of their cozy position in the establishment, for the sake of the myth of American Democracy.

One stolen election in 2000?

Strike One.

Another stolen election in 2002?

Strike Two.

And, now, yet another stolen election in 2004.

Strike Three.

You’re out.

And your team manager doesn’t even get in the face of the Umpire.

An Umpire who was clearly on the take.

After all, all three pitches were illegal spitballs that didn’t even come near the plate.

There is no Joy in America…

For the mighty Uncle Sam has struck out.

2. The democratic party struck out
Curiously enough. Republicans sometimes do win elections. They have in the past, they will in the future. Get over it, move forward. In their darkest days, like 1964, the Republicans did.

4. And yet, the fans show up again and again to view the spectacle!

Aside from joy, there's no common sense in America.

Only fear and denial...

5. They'll fuck it up.
Don't worry. Those arrogant neocons will put their foot in it so deep they'll lose the next 3 terms easy. They'll try to declare martial law, but it won't work and they'll leave in disgrace.

And in thirty years from that time, the country will have totally forgotten about it and allow some new neo-fascist to steal another election.

7. Not so sure...
I wouldn't have believed Americans would stand for type of abuse we've had heaped upon us since 911, but they have. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't so much as blink at martial law.

6. Its NOT over.
I don't deny the dire situation in which our nation, and the world - mankind, finds itself, and the less than successful efforts of our Dems, but it isn't over.

I feel in my blood that there is a battle for this nation raging - I can sense it. Everything is at stake now. If you love this country, you're not done. This nation is in peril.

True.

We'll fight.

Its not over.

10. Wow!
I must not be in America..........and I don't even remember leaving.

There is joy in my life every single day. In my kids and my cats and my work and in literature and music and friends and sports and the sparkling glint of the sun on freshly-fallen snow. Ain't nobody gonna take that away from me. Ever.

This is MY Country and I'll never give up on it!

I refuse to go negative. Is the political climate in my Country FUBAR? Damned straight it is. But it's only hopeless if we give up hope. Our goals are unattainable if we stop reaching. If we stop working and finding new ways to accomplish what needs to be done and fresh approaches to getting ourselves heard. No one can quash our joy or convince us that our vision of the world is unachievable unless we consent to it and I never, ever will.

Prisoners in concentration camps loved and laughed. Caged birds sing. And there will always be joy in America. because we are a people that just doesn't know how to give up. Just wait..........and work..........and see.

15. Welcome to DU and thanks
for your cheerful outlook....we are just a bunch
of old curmudgeons, BUT NOT without reason.
Stick around, we need some hope, because most of us
feel pretty defeated after watching this trainwreck up close and
personal like.

16. When you've poured your heart, soul and money into something...
...this important, it's hard to feel joy. Someone at chorus mentioned the election and I burst into tears. Again. Usually, I can control my emotional pain in public.

17. Let it out Ladyhawk...
You, we have every reason to cry.
Not just because we have poured our souls
into it, but because we fully understand the horror
that lies ahead.
Why is it that Americans are supposed to "feel"
good all the time?
The rest of the world is suffering so much. Largely due
to the actions of OUR multi national corporate
christo-facist government.
Makes me cry too...that is a HEALTHY response.
