All the Inauguration protesting
Not one damn red cent day - where we do not spend any money on Inaguration day.....
Turn your back on Bush - Where we turn our back as Bush drives by and during the inaguration ceremonies....
And now Bushblackout.com - where we blackout our webpages and maintain total silence for 24 hours......

Any other creative ideas out there? I like all these concepts but wonder what it would take to garner MSM reporting?

1. Here's one...
If you were considering canceling any TV service, subscriptions, or any other services (and IMHO you should consider that), do it on that particular day.

Wouldn't that be beautiful if DirecTV lost 100,000 or so customers ON Coronation day? I'm not telling anyone to cancel their TV service, just saying hold off and do it on that particular day if you were going to anyway.

3. Yep!
Sinclair is already firing up his lawyers......claims we cannot talk to patrons about boycotting their products if they advertise on Sinclair stations. He, and the corporate powers should be happy that we are at least giving them a heads up WHY their profits may be suffering......

Give me more on this, please. You mean he's telling me that I can't call up 'x'-company and tell them why I'm not buying their products?

Wonder how long until it's illegal to turn off your television.

14. "illegal to turn off your television" | it's interesting you would...
say that.

CNN has been using a new theme when they do NATIONAL SECURITY stories. at the end they say... in a very serious tone:

Stay with CNN, DAY AND NIGHT for the latest news about YOUR SECURITY

(or something very close)

I felt like, huh? Stayed Tuned or be a victim of TERROR?

(actually, we're still a ways from total state television--though way too close for comfort--

4. We need HUGE CROWDS IN DC to PROTEST on the 20th
We need to get as many people there as possible- a few hundred will not do- we need thousands- many thousands if we want MSM to consider running a story. Those who are there, need to film and photograph these events so that when MSM does cover it and if the reports are not accurate regarding the numbers, we have the footage to show otherwise.

8. ..and the thousands should wear black.
And have a white t-shirt that says Not My President, Fear Won, or 1/20/05-The Day Democracy Died.

5. don't blackout web pages
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 12:41 PM by oscar111
we need to communicate such as why protests are happening, etc.
Plus, show newcomers to our sites what we are all about.

blackout would be shootig ourselves in the foot.

bad tactics abound.. like those who block rush hour traffic.
Or those suffragettes in 1900 who poured glue in British home mailboxes.
BAD TACTICS!

the net is our ONE mass media. Ending it for a day, or just a minute, is like a kid holding his breath till he dies. Self defeating in the extreme.

We need more mass media and we need it 24/7, with not one second offline.

7. We could do self-immolations along the route of the parade.
It worked for the buddists in Vietnam.

9. I'll pass on that one
And with today's media, I don't think it would have the same impact.

go ahead and prove that you're not directing your sarcasm at the Buddhist monks who were so passionate about peace that they gave their lives...MKJ

10. My protest
I have an interview that day in MD. I will be leaving DC that day, but because I will be interviewing, I cannot go and protest. I have been without a job for 19 months, so I am not going to ask for an hour off my interview to protest...BUT...I did buy and will wear a BLACK suit! It is not all that impressive, but it is the best I can do. :)
