PHOTO: Bush urges Congress to "change" asbestos disease compensation
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 04:07 PM by Bluebear

President Bush delivers remarks at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township, Mich., Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. Claiming that asbestos lawsuits clog the courts and hinder economic growth, Bush is urging Congress to change the way people are compensated for diseases caused by the deadly material.

9 soldiers killed yesterday. The world is in misery, 160,000 tsunami casualties...and our President spends the last two days throwing an expensive party for his family at the White House and campaigning to end
lawsuit "abuse" from those pesky people whose lives are threatened by asbestos. I'm all tingly.

1. He looks just like Bub from Day of the Dead in that second picture.
Entirely appropriate that the thing was done at a performing arts centre.

He's a real Milo Minderbinder too: "If it's good for Halliburton, it's good for the nation!"

Here's the new equation: Milo Minderbinder + Bub = *

Typical hypocritical horseshit...

Bush Filed Suit Over Accident Involving Daughter
Saturday, August 26, 2000
FoxNews

NEW YORK -- George W. Bush, who as Texas governor advocated and signed legislation limiting civil lawsuits, filed a case of his own against a rental car agency over a minor accident involving one of his daughters.

Bush, the Republican presidential nominee, sued Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Austin, Texas, for the Sept. 8, 1998, accident, according to an article in Saturday's New York Daily News. The April 1999 civil lawsuit was filed in Austin, the newspaper said.

Lawyers familiar with Texas insurance law told the Daily News the type of lawsuit Bush filed probably was unnecessary because his insurance policy probably would have handled the costs. "It's more typical to just slip it to your insurance company," including the deductible payment, said Dallas lawyer Thomas Woodman.

3. Would. He. Please.
Just. Shut. The. Fuck. Up?

So, was he doing that "pigeon neck" movement during this speech, like he kept doing during the debates? I was wondering if maybe they put too much staarch on the back of his shirt collar, but I think the "pigeon neck" movement is actually as ingrained as his smirk.

What a buffoon.

6. Oh...I like this...
"No one was hurt in the accident involving Bush's 1995 Jeep Cherokee, and police were not called. The lawsuit said the Jeep was hit while one of Bush's twin daughters, Jenna, was driving "in a careful and prudent manner," the lawsuit alleged, and Enterprise shared blame because it had rented a car to a driver whose license was suspended."

heh heh heh...this family is something else...

5. Gee, isn't Halliburton dealing with a giGANtic asbestos suit settlement?
:eyes:

How friggin' transparent! No wonder they like to do things behind closed doors. Whenever they open their mouths in public it's obvious whose bidding they're doing!

8. A bald-faced Halliburton bailout
Halliburton faces extensive asbestos damage claims from a subsidiary they acquired.

Bush is advocating re-writing common law torts for the sole purpose of bailing out a buddy's (Dick) bad business decision.

Petty corruption at its finest.

How mean can these assholes get. I fully expect to find out that they are building large ovens next to a rail line somewhere.
