CBS News format change: "fair and balanced".
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA490493.html?display=Breaking+News&referral=SUPP

"Let the fence-mending begin. According to a Broadcasting & Cable source in Washington, D.C., CBS News president Andrew Heyward, along with Washington bureau chief Janet Leissner, recently met with White House communications director Dan Bartlett, in part to repair chilly relations with the Bush administration."

Well, if this source is to be believed, it appears CBS news just put on a pair of industrial strength kneepads and went the way of CNN.

1. Yah, ain't that something? Wonder if Sumner Redstone had a little talk
with the CBS folks. Make nice, we've got business pending...repeat after me, Bush is our friend, Bush is our friend.

2. So whatever happen with "Rathergate"?
Did anyone ever prove that the documents were bon-i-fide fakes or did they simply file it under the ole Fox News motto, "As long as the argument is a tie we still win."

I say that incident was like the Sandy Berger case. They slip in a ridiculous rumor that he's hiding documents in his pants, in turn taking the heat off of real issues using fluff....

4. CBS is full of fucking cowards
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 04:43 AM by bluestateguy
The Right knows that all they have to do is bitch and piss and moan about "liburl bias" as CBS and sure enough their executives will cry like a bunch of little bitches "Oh, oh, please stop being mean to us!"

Examples?

The "Reagans" miniseries incident
Boobgate at the Super Bowl
Rather and the National Guard documents

10. If it's Dish Network, 9415.
That's Free Speech TV. BBC America is channel 135. All US networks are now a lost cause. IMO, any hope of even one of them going against the Regime is futile.

The best one could say about CBS in the past four years is that they were Least Among The Whores.

9. "Repair chilly relations with the Bush Administration."
I wonder if a news outlet in the 70's would have made an announcement that they were going to "repair chilly relations with the Nixon Administration?"

Years ago, I remember reading an article from a journalist (article and journalist long forgotten) in which he warned the news media not to be drawn too tightly into the beltway. That they should not begin to identify with the power structure but should remain aloof and objective, an outsider looking in.

Perhaps Bush's recent slap down of the press is in part justified. Do they speak for the public?

Sorry, I cannot post a link. The problem with living so long is that you remember scraps of information long after the source is forgotten.

15. seeya, '60 Minutes'
I was wondering why "60 Minutes" seems more like "Entertainment Tonight" anymore. We've totally turned it off.
