The cost of the war, and what we could have bought instead...
The War in Iraq Cost the United States $147,816,185,159 (and climbing by the second).

Instead, we could have fully funded global anti-hunger efforts for 6 years.

Instead, we could have covered medical health insurance for 88,512,539 children for one year.

Instead, we could have hired 2,561,670 additional public school teachers for one year.

Instead, we could have ensured that every child in the world was given basic immunizations for 49 years.

1. Would you please stop being so pollyannish?
Just kidding. Of course, war is not the answer to our problems. The blind leading the blind.

4. Yes, similar figures were put out when Reagan first proposed
Star Wars.

The more things change, the more they remain the same.

These are the truths that most of our lily-livered politicians need to shout from the rooftops and repeat everytime they meet with their constituents.

But I'm not holding my breath.

5. Didn't Kerry say Iraq had cost us $200 billion so far?

And that was back in October.

But I digress. And you're right; the money could be much better spent. Especially when the war has been proven illegal.
