How long before bushie boys minions put a stop to this research?

WASHINGTON - The illegal club drug Ecstasy can trigger euphoria among the dance club set, but can it ease the debilitating anxiety that cancer patients feel as they face their final days?

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a pilot study looking at whether the recreational hallucinogen can help terminally ill patients lessen their fears, quell thoughts of suicide and make it easier for them to deal with loved ones.

“End of life issues are very important and are getting more and more attention, and yet there are very few options for patients who are facing death,” Dr. John Halpern, the Harvard research psychiatrist in charge of the study, said Monday.

The small, four-month study is expected to begin early next spring. It will test the drug’s effects on 12 cancer patients from the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in the Boston area. The research is being sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, a nonprofit group that plans to raise $250,000 to fund it.

1. They won't, and here's why.
Because it concerns a PILL, which can be patented, marketed and sold at a huge profit.

It's the same reason that no federal studies are being approved for similar research into medical marijuana use.

With the Bushes, it's always about the money. The wedge issues are just for manipulation purposes.

5. I think Merck has the patent on MDMA.
I know it is one of the pharmaceuticals that had offices in Dallas. They were researching it in the 80's and lots of the drugs ended up on the streets from the pharmaceuticals back then.

2. I personally believe
that ecstasy should be legalized before marijuana. But I'm biased.

4. Ecstasy was legal up until the mid 80's.

In and around the Dallas area, X clubs started popping up where people would go and take X and hang out. The clubs sold water and charged an entry fee to make money. You could buy ecstasy at will in North Texas and North Louisiana. In 1985 the FDA used its rulemaking authority to make X (or MDMA ) illegal. When I left for college in the fall of 1986, I had 100 hits of X in my pocket that I had bought legally.

By the end 1986 you could not find X from the pharmaceuticals anymore. That's when the bathroom X started popping up. Almost immdediately, I noticed a difference in the quality of the drug. The X on the streets after 1986 (and I presume now) is often dirty and has a cocktail of drugs that are unpredictable.

I stopped doing X shortly after they made it illegal. It was just not as good and I could tell that the bathroom stuff was wrecking my body.

8. medical mdma
Selling water is one of the reasons x has such a bad rep. People rarely die from overdosing on MDMA, rather from overheating, usually (99.9% i'd guess) from dancing. As for quality, it's always safe practice to break out a test kit before ingesting ANYTHING, much less x.

everything is moderation.

3. I was surprised it made it this far
Nothing that might threaten the drug war industry will be tolerated for long. Maybe drug company profits will cause an exception though.

7. Au contraire....they will not.
Because the drug companies can exploit X, which they cannot do with marijuana.
