The best & the worst sayings I heard from people I know this year . . .
The Best, from an online friend on another board during a discussion about religious zealots:

"I don't believe God created a huge wondrous universe filled with indescribable diversity only to require us to worship him in a very limited & restricted way."

The Worst, from my mother on Christmas Eve, after I opened a great anti-Bush tee shirt from my sister:

"Well, I guess I'm the only one here who supports our president. You'll be surprised to know that I think we should pull all the troops out of Iraq. Yes, I do. And then we should bomb the hell out of the entire country until no one is left." Stunned silence followed this mini-rant.

And your best/worst from those you know?

1. I'm still shuddering from your mom's statement
That is just sad. No respect for life. She needs to be deprogrammed.

Well, my best would have to be the former repug who told my mom * is evil!! :)

The worst is my MIL saying the prisoners at Abu Graib deserved what they got b/c of the beheadings WTF?!!

3. I am so sorry your mother has been taking over by the BUSHCO brain
That is scary to hear out of ones mother. My friend's mother basically announced to her family this christmas that she - - a life long Dem actually voted for * and got everyone in the family pro-* tee-shirts.

4. Unfortunately I've heard your mom's statement
from many people who profess to be Christens. Turn the Middle East into a parking lot seems to be very popular.

5. Best one is by my sister last night
Very wealthy, Ausinite. Wearing a fake animal fur coat. Said, it took a lot of dead polyesters to make this coat.

Worst - my mom, about a month ago. Also a Texan, but supports Bush, although she cant be bothered to think about politics, because all her fundie friends from church do. She and I had both agreed that at least some gays and lesbians were "born that way". So when I asked her why God would disapprove of them if he created them that way, all she could come up with is, "We humans can't understand the reason God does things the way he does."
