How I see abortion and social issues
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 11:18 AM by Tony_FLADEM
Conservatives have very selfish motives for opposing abortion. These people use the emotion and morality associated with this issue to attain political power. Conservatives cherish the abortion issue so much because it's easy to oppose abortion and the benefits are more than the costs.

Everything Republicans believe in revolves around money. They are for life on the abortion issue, and it's alright for the pharmaceutical industry to put out defective medications that cause heart attacks and other medical problems because this issue involves money and this is most important.

As for social issues. That lady who murdered that pregnant woman and took the baby from her womb was from a red state. Columbine happened in a red state. That mother who drowned her children in a bathtub was from a red state, and that woman who drove her kids into a lake (1994 in South Carolina) was from a red state.

Although I don't have the statistics in front of me, I would suspect that most of the social problems facing this country happen in states that are conservative on social issues.

Liberals have nothing to be ashamed of. Massachusetts and Vermont does not face these social problems.

I would suspect that economic disparity and hardship and is a major contributor to these social ills and Republicans' economic policies have only exasperated these problems.

1. It seems to me that the really awful child abuse stories come
from the "red" states. I know there was a very widely publicized on in New York City several years ago, but most of the really sick ones that make the news come from the South, sadly.

perpetrators are most often the stepfather or live in boyfriend
