But Not For Al Gore Selecting Joe Lieberman As A Running Mate...
... would Joe Lieberman be running for the Democratic nomination? Or would he be a relatively unknown senator who was struggling for a little recognition?

1. I wouldn't be suprised...
but he is ranking member on Governmental Affairs, so who knows? His ego's certainly big enough...

10. Lieberman reminds me of Senator Palpatine.
...and after last night, I'm beginning to believe my instincts.

4. He wouldn't be running
He would have started at 1% in the polls and gone down from there.

Thanks Al.:eyes:

6. No way!
I certainly didn't have any opinion about Lieberman. However, when Clinton chose Gore that's when I supported Clinton, because I read Gore's book about the environment.

8. Well, Gore was scared of the "Clinton scandals"
and he thought Lieberman, a big anti-Clinton scold, was the surest way to inoculate himself. It was a mistake. But do you really see Lieberman getting any traction in the nomination race? I don't.

9. What was Al smoking that day?
We have gotten to know Joe better since those days of the debates before the election, but surely Al must have known him, warts and all, as a Washinton insider would have. What was he smoking?

13. Well, Ill say it.I think DLC pushed Lieberman...and Gore wanted Edwards..
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 08:12 PM by KoKo01
I think (having Edwards as my Senator and seeing him running this time......maybe they thought Edwards wasn't "ready for Prime Time, YET!) But, Lieberman cost him for sure. When Lieberman sold out on the Military Ballots in Florida....it was the END.

I've heard that Edwards was his first or second choice......I don't know who beyond Lieberman/Edwards was under consideration.....but seeing what I've seen of DLC who I think wants Repugs to win (sorry I can't stand them at this point...they need to grow!) , I think Lieberman was a worse choice than an inexperienced Edwards who might have stood tall over the military ballots.......well.....maybe not......from my experience with him in NC......but I like to think ANYONE but LIEBERMAN.......would have been better........
