Bush bungled Osama before 9-11. Why isn't it bigger issue?.

This is a little dated. It was discussed briefly, but got overshadowed by other news -- like the latest in the Lacy Peterson trial or something.

The media presstitutes will do their best to bury. But why isn;t our side making a bigger deal of this? The right-wingers are always blaming Clinton for missing chances to "get" bin Laden when he was president. But here is something that seems even worse

This seems like something -- when connected to the disaster in Iraq --that our side should be beating the GOP's head with, to counteract the right-wing spin -- the kind of non "tin-hat" stuff about pure ineptitude that can counteract the talk about how the GOP is so successful in foreign policy and national security.

Missed Opportunity
Officials: Bush Administration Was Slow to Approve Drones to Kill Bin Laden

By Ted Bridis and John Solomon
The Associated Press

W A S H I N G T O N, June 24— When President Bush took office in January 2001, the White House was told that Predator drones had recently spotted Osama bin Laden as many as three times and officials were urged to arm the unmanned planes with missiles to kill the al Qaeda leader.

But the administration failed to get drones back into the Afghan skies until after the Sept. 11 attacks later that year, current and former U.S. officials say.

Top administration officials discussed the mission to kill bin Laden as late as one week before the suicide attacks on New York and Washington, but they had not yet resolved a debate over whether the CIA or Pentagon should operate the armed Predators and whether the missiles would be sufficiently lethal, officials told The Associated Press.

5. I'm not talking about the press
I'm talking about us and our leaders. It's the kind of issue that if there were a loud chorus, the media could not ignore it.

3. It may be ...
a repug (I forgot his name) is calling for an investigation and wants both Clinton and * to appear. Clinton (I believe) did everything he could, so it would out the ball in *'s lap. I'm sure this won't pan out, but you never know ....

4. Time for the 9/11 Families to Carry the Ball
The admin is evidently stonewalling the 9/11 commission re declassifying parts of the Congressional inquiry that it finds embarrassing. I think it is time for the 9/11 victims families to start kicking up a fuss. They cannot be accused of partisanship.
