Poll question: Amerika or America
There are some posters at DU who, when they want to signal their anger at the authoritarian tendencies of our current administration, tend to refer to the US as "Amerika" instead of "America". The implication is that, as corrupt authoritarian politicians, they're automatically nazis, which of course warrents referring to the whole country by the German spelling of America.

How do you feel about this?

5. Cute, but it seems harsh to label all America as klan-like' too
Let's not forget that more Americans support the Southern Poverty Law Center than the Klan. More Americans stand up for decency than stand up for ruining opportunities for others. You can put 3 Ks on your country if you like. It bothers me because that's not who we are. But at least in the case of 'Amerikka' the insult is local.

4. I'm not dead yet
Hardly dead, LotD. To be insulted is not to die. To lose an election is not to lose a fight.
As long as you're angry, there's hope.

7. do you have an ambassador to the UN?
How about to the British?

Or the French, or the Germans, or the Russians or the Chinese?

Do you have a military?

No. But Murka does.

To restore America, we must first overthrow Murka.

8. you must be one of the few
who still has a job and health insurance.

I love this country. I am proud to call myself a patriot.

But I've been to other countries and many of them are much better places for ALL their citizens.

They still count votes in some countries too. Isn't that quaint?

13. I know a lot of people who say that and
I must wonder, every time I hear it, of how long it has been since the speaker re evaluated and re assessed his or her belief. My mind changes often. When was the last time you changed your mind?

21. WRONG....There are many countries who have higher living standards
Go to Australia, New Zealand, the UK, France, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, most of Italy and Spain and you will see that the standard of living is exactly the same and in many cases, much better. These countires are very livable and aren't the poor bastions that many right-wingers try think they are

23. Actually the neoconservatives are not so much Nazis
If you really want to stick the shank into them call them what they really are.

Soviets.

Stagnant planned oligarchial economy? Sounds Soviet to me!
Use of deliberate war, invasion and military action to bolster bad domestic policy? Sounds Soviet to me!
Demanding an internal security apparatus against your own citizenry? Sounds Soviet to me!
Intential curbing of dissent and control of avenues of communication to keep it favorable to the state? Sounds Soviet to me!

The Republicans: America's Hammer And Sickle.
